About me and my therapy practice
Hey, I know its not easy to take that first step to even think about going to counselling. It takes strength and courage to meet a complete stranger and trust them with your innermost thoughts, fears and feelings, or admitting you feel like you need help.
I can say that, because I have been there myself, needing help, but not wanting to recognise or admit it to myself, or anyone else. you might also be worrying about not feeling able to cope with things, a perceived fear or shame of what's happened, looking weak or feeling you've failed.
Not only did counselling allow me to work through very difficult times and uncover things I wasn't aware of, it allowed me to see things from a very different perspective, not hate myself and to make better choices for me. I made positive changes to my life and accepted the things that I couldn’t change. Again, it wasn't easy, probably in fact, the hardest thing I've ever done, but it helped me to move forward, not only to a place where things make more sense, but to a place where I can help people, the same as I was, and I now know that none of these things are a competition, or failure, or something to be embarrassed about. I can say now it is the best thing I ever did. Maybe it will be for you?
I enjoy what I do. I consider it a privilege to have helped and worked alongside people who have, through this process, given themselves the chance of making huge changes to their lives for the better.
I can offer you a safe space where you can be really heard. I can help you explore, uncover or make sense of any issues you are experiencing, or what is not working in your life right now. Together, we can draw on your strengths, ideas and abilities to work towards creating positive change in your life and reach your goal of happiness, whatever that looks like for you.

Practice description
Counselling and psychotherapy can help with specific areas of your life such as depression, low mood, stress, anxiety, loss, grief & bereavement, childhood abuse & neglect, domestic abuse, (complex) trauma, low self esteem, confidence, bullying, anger management, work-related stress, relationship issues and family difficulties, feeling down and suicidal thoughts, to name a few.
It could be that you don't know exactly what's troubling you, you just know that you feel stuck and unable to move forward. With the right counsellor, therapy allows you the safety and luxury to self-indulge and explore your thoughts, feelings and emotions; it can help you to put things into perspective and make positive changes to your life.
Taking those next steps can often leave clients feeling nervous and confused; please be assured that I will endeavour to make the process as smooth and as easy as possible for you.
If you feel that you would like to work with me, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
I am contactable via email, text or telephone and you will find my details below. Confidentiality is of utmost importance to me and I'd like to reassure you that your name and contact details are kept totally private. Once you have taken that step to make contact, we will arrange an initial consultation, to talk about how counselling might help you and how we can work together.

My first session
First session is basically a getting to know you session. Usually is an initial informal 30 minute chat, and is a good opportunity for you to let me know what your requirements and reservations are, what you feel like you need help with and how you would feel comfortable doing this. I can answer any questions around details on price, length of sessions etc, as well as any questions that you have about any worries or expectations of the therapy process, and most importantly, to see if you think you can feel comfortable and able to talk to me going forward in any subsequent sessions. this is the most important thing to think about and gauge in any therapeutic relationship.
