About me and my therapy practice

I am a compassionate and experienced counsellor dedicated to helping people find strength and resilience in overcoming life’s challenges.  Sometimes life can feel overwhelming and it can be hard to find space to think.  We may not want to burden family and friends and so hold on to what we are experiencing with nowhere to turn.  I appreciate the impact that talking therapy, in a safe and confidential environment, can have.

Having previously worked in the corporate world, I understand the internal and external pressures that can impact self-esteem and overall well-being.  Whatever feels hard to manage, I provide a warm, empathic and confidential environment for us to have a conversation and think about what you are experiencing and how best to move forward.

Practice description

I have come to appreciate that experiences in our early years are so significant in shaping how we respond to events in our present.  In my practice I blend psychodynamic thinking with a relational approach.  This allows me to help you to reflect on your experiences through a supportive therapeutic relationship where you feel listened to and understood, helping you to better work through your feelings.

I have experience of working with many different issues that affect our everyday lives.  We deal with challenges as individuals and whether you are experiencing depression, anxiety, a work-related issue, going through a bereavement, are perhaps struggling with issues around neuro divergence be it your own or that of a family member, or have suffered a trauma, I work intuitively recognising that we have our own unique responses to the things we face.

I feel that the ideal client-counsellor relationship is one based on trust, empathy and acceptance.  I hope to create an environment where anything can be said, without fear of judgement.  I work with whatever you choose to bring.  I offer sessions on a weekly basis either day time or evenings that last 50 minutes.  I can work either on a short term basis or open-ended so that we are not restricted by time, depending on your need.

My first session

The initial session is an assessment session that lasts up to a hour where can meet and think about what has bought you to counselling and for you to hear about how I work.  We can discuss how to take things forward if that is what you decide.
