About me and my therapy practice

Life can often feel overwhelming and unbearable. Sometimes we struggle to feel good enough, relationships can feel difficult or we can’t seem to ask for what we need.  Perhaps others take advantage of you, creating feelings of worthless, guilt, and shame.

I know how it feels to experience emotional challenges; worry, anxiety, grief, low self-esteem and trauma. I have experience helping clients overcome emotional stress to make sense of their feelings, gain control of their life and feel happier.

I specialise in attachment psychotherapy which means exploring childhood relationships and how they can impact our relationships in adulthood. The way you were treated as a child has a profound impact on you throughout your whole life. Relationships are fundamental in life and our most important relationship is with ourselves. Difficult relationships can often leave us feeling lost, angry, scared, or with an overwhelming fear of rejection or abandonment. It is all too easy to turn our pain onto ourselves or even project onto others.

It takes courage to ask for help and I can help you unpack your heavy emotional suitcase, allowing you the space to re-organise your thoughts, set stronger boundaries, and feel lighter and more able to cope with life.

Clients often tell me they feel seen and heard when they start to work with me. I provide a welcoming and safe space for you to offload and find the answers you are searching for emotionally.

I can help and support you through your challenging times, enabling you to become emotionally stronger, calmer, happier and more resilient.

My Lytham-based counselling practice is an accessible room with free parking and public transport. I also offer online counselling to suit your availability.

I look forward to welcoming you.

Practice description

The most important part of counselling is the relationship. It’s important that you feel you can trust your counsellor and know you will never be judged, criticised or shamed. Choosing to work with me, you'll be accepted unconditionally and completely. I will help you feel relaxed and at ease so you can trust me with your intimate and personal information.  It always feels like a privilege to be a counsellor and I never take it for granted.

My first session

It is normal to feel nervous when you come to your first counselling session.  To begin with  I will explain what I can and cannot do, get an understanding of what has brought you to counselling, and what you hope to achieve.  I will then start to get to know you, ask you questions, and challenge your thoughts so over time you become more aware of your thoughts, feelings and emotions.  They are your sessions and you are always in control.
