About me and my therapy practice

I am a person centred psychodynamic counsellor and I offer a non-judgemental, safe, empathic space in which thoughts, feelings and experiences can be explored. My work is relational, which means that we use the therapeutic relationship to create a space to connect and talk openly.
I have a special interest in working with neurodiversity, particularly adult dyslexia, ADHD and Autism, its impact in childhood, the act of masking and how it impacts on adult identity and relationships.
I have supported people with their mental health for the last 6 years, through a mixture of counselling and peer support work.
For 5 years I specialised in advocating for and supporting women with their maternal mental health, particularly in relation to postnatal depression, anxiety, loneliness and feelings of loss of identity or self worth.
At present I work within my private practise in Bristol, offering online and face to face sessions, whilst also working as a counsellor for Reclaim, a domestic abuse support charity in North Somerset.
Practice description
For me counselling is relational and finding a counsellor with whom you feel understood and respected is the first step in building a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship. From there, if you choose to work with me, we can explore and consider together your experiences and feelings.
My work is integrative, which means I use different aspects of counselling to adapt to the needs and wishes of my clients. For instance this may mean that I listen, make observations, ask questions and seek clarifications, combining the curiosity of psychodynamic theory with the empathy, unconditional positive regard and respect of person-centred counselling.
I have worked with a range of issues including depression, anxiety, stress (including study/work-related), low self-esteem, loss of identity, relationship trauma, traumatic family dynamics and domestic abuse, infertility and pregnancy loss.
My first session
I offer a free 20-minute phone/video call so that we can meet each other and have an initial chat. You can then decide if you want to book a first appointment from there.
