About me and my therapy practice
Hello. My name is Kirsty Webster and firstly I want to thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. Getting this far is a big step. Considering therapy can be a daunting. I'd like to share a little bit about myself and my work in the hopes this can help you in any way.
I’m a Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ qualified pluralistic therapist (MÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ) and Mental Health First Aid Instructor (SQA/FAA approved). I work with you to explore how challenging experiences, thoughts, feelings and behaviours may be getting in the way of living the life you want to lead and what you can do to move forward in the way you want to.
My therapeutic approach is trauma-informed, and I use a wide range of resources to offer my clients a therapeutic experience that matches what they need and feel is useful. I have a wide-ranging teaching background (PGDE), with additional support needs as an area of interest.
I’m genuine, empathic and caring, bringing a range of professional and life experiences to my therapeutic work. I am interested in how I may help you as an individual, with respect for your unique life story.
Ever since I was young, I knew I wanted to help people and have been doing so in one way or another for the last 20 years. I followed a rewarding career path into teaching where I have been privileged to support learners from early years to higher education, finding most rewarding supporting those with additional needs – learning and emotional. Although enjoying my job, more and more I witnessed the need to look after our wellbeing is crucial for a healthy and happy life, including my own. Training and working as a therapist, I believe that this support can help people make a difference in their lives. It is a passion where I can continue to offer my professional and life experience to my clients, as well as an empowering and authentic therapeutic relationship they can benefit from.
Practice description
In my career, I have worked with a wide variety of client groups within public, private and third sectors. I have worked from 1:1 to large groups (and everything in between), in person and online.
Since 2022, I have worked therapeutically with a wide range of clients with many different life problems. I use different theories and methods to help a client make sense of what brings them to therapy, what can work to move forward, and how they may be able to do so. I believe that different things help different people at different times, therefore I will treat each client as an individual. I work with you to explore challenging experiences; thoughts, feelings and behaviours that may be getting in the way of living the life you want to lead.
Although I have supported clients with many different problems, I have a lot of experience in the field of trauma as well as supporting learners with a neurodivergence. I will be responsive to not only what you want out of counselling but how a session can be set up to best support any additional needs you may have.
I am the Founder and Director of GROW, a support service established in 2022. GROW has supported a diverse range of clients through mentoring, counselling and training.
Training and Qualifications
Extensive Trauma Training
MSc Pluralistic Counselling
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Trained (ASIST)
Online Telephone Proficiency training for Counselling Accredited (ACTO)
Mental Health First Aid Instructor
Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE)
Whilst work experience, training and qualifications are important, LIFE experience has taught me a lot. I expect my clients to also bring their own knowledge and skills we can use in our work too.
My first session
You will have the opportunity to have a no obligation free 20 minute chat with me ahead of organising a first session. This can be either over the phone or via Zoom.
If you decide to take our work together further, we will organise a first session. Ahead of this, I will send some necessary paperwork. We will discuss this a bit in our first session as well as any questions you may have.
It would also be useful in session to outline your hopes for therapy and we can discuss ways we can work towards this. Our work will be collaborative, so you will always have a voice in how we take any work forward.
