About me and my therapy practice
I work integratively. That means I draw on a range of tools and approaches to support you towards making change.
I am particularly influenced by attachment-based and psychodynamic perspectives. In other words, I am curious about how our past shapes our present. Many of us learnt particular ways of being in the world when we were young, which no longer serve us in our adult lives. In therapy, I might invite you to consider the influence of your past experiences on your present feelings and behaviours. In time, you might use our sessions to explore new ways of being and relating.
My work as a therapist is also relational. I believe that change is made possible, in part, through the creation of a trusting and open therapeutic relationship. Just as we evolve in our early relationships, we can change and grow with the help of current ones. So I do my best to create a warm and supportive space where you can feel heard and known in all aspects of yourself.
Practice description
You might decide to contact me if you are:
- Feeling lonely, empty or lost
- Experiencing difficulties in relationships with partners, family members, friends or colleagues
- Preoccupied by memories or feelings about childhood
- Overwhelmed by strong emotions or recurrent, anxious thoughts
- Suffering following a bereavement or loss
- Living with negative body image or disordered eating
This list is not exhaustive, and some clients I see aren’t able to define exactly what’s wrong. But they have a sense that things could be better, and they’d like help with figuring out a way forward.
If we decide to work together on an ongoing basis, I will invite you to bring your thoughts, your feelings, and perhaps your bodily sensations into our sessions. I will gently encourage you to bring your whole self – including those parts that might feel upset, afraid, angry, or confused. Together, we'll work to process what's troubling you and to make sense of your experiences. In this way, we will pave the way for gradual changes in how you are able to relate both to yourself and others.
I am committed to non-discriminatory practice and welcome clients of all identities, cultures, faiths, genders and sexualities, as well as those with health conditions and disabilities. My approach seeks to recognise the power dynamics in relationships that are shaped by the wider society we live in.
My practice
I work from City Therapy Rooms, 33 Furnival Street, EC4A 1JQ. This practice is not wheelchair accessible.
I also work online via Zoom.
My first session
Introductory call: I offer a free 15-minute phone call, during which we can discuss what’s bringing you to therapy, and how I might be able to support you.
Initial session / Consultation: If, after this introductory call, you are interested in having therapy, then we will meet for an initial session. This will give us the chance to get to know one another a bit better. We’ll talk about your reasons for seeking therapy, and what you would like to get from it. You might have particular goals you want to work towards, or you might simply be seeking a supportive space to explore your feelings. You may also want to know about me and the kind of therapy I offer. This session is charged at a reduced rate of £50, and is entirely without further obligation.
