About me and my therapy practice
Hi there, life can be tough but we don’t have to navigate it alone. I recognise that we’re all individuals and so I tailor my therapy skills to meet your needs.
Whether you’re experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem, bereavement or loss, divorce or separation, trauma, depression or low mood; there is no right or wrong stuff to bring to counselling.
Therapy models I work with include Psychodynamic, Person-centred, Cognitive Behavioural therapy & Transactional Analysis; significantly each model is grounded on the necessary principles of therapy; congruence, unconditional positive regard and empathy.
I am a firm believer in engaging both the right and left of the brain so that my clients get the most out of counselling. Creative work does wonders in freeing us of defences that can act as a block to our unconscious.
Practice description
I have experience counselling for St Christophers, Westmeria and Counselling Matters supporting clients with a wide variety of issues.
Sessions in my private practice take place at the Old Town Hall in Bromley, on Tweedy Road.
I work collaboratively toward the goal you have in mind, and while this is the focus, often the work reveals itself along the way. All of this is ok.
In exploring what is going on for us in the present, we can trace our feelings back to experiences in the past. In this way, our past experiences shape our understanding of what is going on for us in the here and now.
What I find wonderful about counselling is that we are given a rare opportunity to sit with our thoughts and feelings; in doing so we are connecting to our self in a way that the world around us rarely facilitates.
My first session
During our first session, together we’ll talk about what you’d like to get out of counselling and the way we’ll work together.
While I recommend a minimum of six sessions so as to get the best out of the experience, collaboration is key. We will agree the number of sessions as part of our shared agreement.
Once you feel happy with the counselling agreement, we can begin.
