About me and my therapy practice

Life can present us with challenges that can leave us feeling overwhelmed, lost, anxious, and not knowing where to turn. As a fully qualified integrative therapeutic counsellor, I am experienced in working with a wide range of issues that could be affecting your well-being and how you feel about yourself. I offer a safe and private counselling space to explore what lies behind these thoughts and feelings.

Bereavement, menopause, parenting, infertility, infidelity, redundancy, relationship difficulties, addiction, work or family pressures are just some of the challenges that can take their toll and leave us struggling to cope. You may have an inner critical voice that won't rest and leaves you feeling 'less than' or never quite 'good enough'. Or feelings of anxiety and low mood that could be impacting your life, your relationships, work, or education.

Historical or present traumatic experiences that are left unprocessed can lie under the surface and play out unconsciously in how we feel about ourselves and how we react to those around us. People pleasing or avoiding intimacy and struggling to communicate with the ones we love the most are just some of the unconscious behaviours that can contribute to low esteem and negative thought patterns.

Often these can be learned behaviours such as meeting the needs of others over our own and can stem from childhood. When we have not had our emotional needs met from a young age it can leave us carrying these wounds into adulthood and repeating the same patterns in our adult relationships.

At the centre of my work is empathy and respect for you as a unique individual. You are the expert on you, and I am there to facilitate the therapeutic process to help you deepen your self-awareness and reflect upon what is going on for you. When we develop a deeper understanding, accepting ourselves for who we are and breaking the shackles of conforming to others' expectations is the first step to changing how we feel about ourselves.
