About me and my therapy practice
My own therapeutic journey began when I trained as a Ballet and Contemporary Dancer (Professional Diploma) and worked extensively in Theatre and musicals for 10 years, learning about self reflection and resilience. Followed by becoming a teacher of the performing arts (Diploma for Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector), which I have successfully guided young people through their qualifications and in their lives for 17 years, through pastoral roles, managing enrichment community groups, and helping educators understand the importance of intersectionality within our society. Something which is dear to me.
Therapeutic Training
The journey of my life has allowed me to explore how to offer an authentic space of trust, empathy and compassion, with a deep understanding and theoretical knowledge of, racial identity, LGBTQI, sexual identity, teenagers, eating disorders, anxiety, relationship breakdown and low self-esteem, having worked and trained at First Steps (Eating Disorders), and RELATE whilst qualifying with a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling in 2023.
Approaches to counselling
The modality that I work within is an integrative approach, which uses tools, theories and approaches from person centered, solution focused therapy and CBT, which are only used based on their appropriateness to you the individual.
Surviving, thriving, understanding, reflection and growth are core characteristics and qualities that I work towards with you, to explore how you feel about yourself, find coping strategies, and realise your goals, true potential and healing.
