About me and my therapy practice
We all find life hard some of the time, and sometimes, it can feel like it's not getting any easier. We all want things to be different, we want change. But change is hard, and it’s harder to change alone. I help people with their difficulties. I help people to make the changes they need to make, to heal, to get back on their feet, to integrate past difficult experiences, and to finally live fuller and deeper lives.
Stress, anxiety, depression, loss, anger, pain, these are all perfectly human experiences, but they can sometimes get in the way of the life we have always wanted for ourselves. Change is difficult, but not impossible. It’s still possible to free ourselves of the pain, hurt, and trauma that we carry.
It’s still possible to let go of what holds us back and start again. I have experience working with people from all walks of life, who come from very different backgrounds from all around the world. I help people who are struggling with everyday anxiety and stress, and others with trauma, addiction, loss and suicidal thoughts.
Don't hesitate to contact me.
Practice description
Every person is different, and no two people find the same things work for them. I work in collaboration with each person, finding what is most helpful for them, supporting them in their difficult experiences, and providing hope when things feel hopeless.
I help people to first make sense of their difficult experiences, to place them in the context of their life now, and how their current experience (or symptoms) make sense and are understandable. We are the way we are because of what has happened in the past. With this understanding, we begin to make the changes necessary to experience life differently and with less suffering (symptom reduction).
I offer sessions online and face to face.
My first session
The first session provides us with an opportunity to meet each other, to get a sense of one another, to see if we are a good fit. By the end of the first session, we should both have a picture of what has brought you to therapy now, what you hope to get out of therapy, and what approach we might use to achieve that.
I typically ask the same kinds of questions, for example, if you have any previous experience of therapy, if so how did that go, what’s going on in your life now that is difficult, when did these difficulties start, how would you be living your life differently if your difficulties weren’t a problem for you? It’s helpful to have a direction for our work, an end goal to aim for, so that we know where we are heading. If you’re currently not sure what that is, not to worry, that’s where we will start!
After our first session we will decide whether we will work together going forward.
