About me and my therapy practice

I am a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist with over 20 years of experience in the fields of psychology, psychotherapy, education, and mindfulness. Proficient in French and Arabic, I also offer sessions for French and Arabic-speaking clients. My approach is based on the belief that each person has their own specific therapy needs. Therefore, in psychotherapy, I adopt a holistic and integrative approach that centers around your individual requirements. Some of the specific methods I utilise include Analytic Psychotherapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Psychotherapy, Psycho-Organic Analysis, and Sophrology.

Psycho-Organic Analysis was founded in 1975 by Paul Boyesen and draws from psychoanalysis and embodied therapies. It offers models that account for psychic, organic, emotional and energetic processes. This method explores the intimate links between the unconscious and the bodily/organic/somatic phenomena. Through a subtle approach to the unconscious, it allows the person to understand their behaviour, emotions, relations, interactions with others, and coping mechanisms. POA offers a wide and diverse range of methods and tools like verbalization, active imagination, role playing, examining the family history, transmissions and patterns, dream analysis.

Sophrology is a holistic discipline that aims to harmonise the body, mind, and spirit, and to cultivate a state of wellbeing and self-awareness. It incorporates principles from yoga, Zen Buddhism, cognitive-behavioural therapy, and phenomenology to help individuals achieve a balanced and harmonious state of being.

I believe that therapy is a process that can allow a person to heal, transform and grow.

Practice description

I typically offer open-ended psychotherapy, meaning there is no predetermined number of sessions. The sessions are scheduled on a weekly basis and last around 50 minutes. I also specialise in children, couple, and family psychotherapy. Additionally, I have a growing interest in group work, particularly in implementing various mind-body techniques. This helps individuals develop stress management skills while enhancing their self-esteem and confidence.

I strongly believe that emotion regulation plays a central role in mental health, and mind-body therapies are a pivotal approach to effectively achieve this. To provide a few examples, this approach can be particularly relevant for families experiencing pregnancy, parenting challenges, general pain management, breaking bad habits, and fostering positive communication.

My first session

The first session is primarily about establishing a foundation for the therapeutic relationship and gaining an initial understanding of your needs and concerns. During this session, I usually explain confidentiality and boundaries and you will be offered a safe and non-judgmental space to discuss your motivations for seeking therapy, recount your personal history and present challenges. Together, we establish therapeutic goals while I outline my approach. Any past therapy experiences are explored and practical elements like session frequency and payment are addressed.
