About me and my therapy practice
Welcome to Storytime Counselling Services
Hi, my name is Rik, and I am a fully qualified (Prof.Dip Psy C) and professionally accredited MNCPS (Acc) and registered MÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ (Reg) Psychotherapeutic Counsellor offering a safe, non-judgemental environment, from which you will have the time and freedom to safely explore and share any difficult, overwhelming, or conflicting concerns you may have. The ultimate aim here, is to provide you the opportunity and space to reach out and be listened to empathically, whilst experiencing a close and collaborative therapeutic relationship, from which to reframe and understand more about your ‘authentic self’, which can often become veiled or suppressed within us. Contributory factors will not only derive from our ‘here and now’ experiences, that maybe exacerbated or connected to the pressures of our current modern daily lives and expectations… but also emanate from our powerful internalised ‘learnt core beliefs’, that control how we perceive ourselves and others around us.
As well as the ‘Rogerian’ core conditions of Empathy, Congruence and Unconditional Positive Regard, I combine Psychodynamic, CBT, & Person-Centred modalities, to create a modern Integrative approach, which enables me to remain flexible within the working alliance and offer a more personalised and individual overall experience and therapy plan.
In addition to my own private practice, I also currently work as a Staff Counsellor at ‘St Barnabas House hospice’ three days a week, which is located in Worthing.
I am comfortable working face-to-face, online, or via telephone with many types of presentations and realise that much of the time the initial presenting issue, might not always truly reflect the underlying issues. This is where the therapeutic relationship can support and facilitate an individual’s journey of discovery, and enable a person to become more aware and accepting of who they are and why…

Welcome to Storytime Counselling Services
Actively listening to, noticing and empathically understanding a client's story, will always remains at the heart of everything I do at Storytime Counselling. I believe that by offering a safe, confidential and welcoming environment, it enables a strong therapeutic working alliance to develop, from where changes, understanding and self-awareness can be nurtured.
As well as my membership to two of the recognised professional counselling bodies within the vocation (the NCPS – National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society & the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ – British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy), I have also attained Enhanced DBS certification status, whilst ensuring all of the appropriate indemnity and public liability insurances are all in place too, to help offer complete peace of mind and commitment, to all of my current and potential clients.
You’ll also find a clean and modern therapy room awaits, all within an easy-to-reach location including free on-site & roadside parking. My services can facilitate either short-term or open-ended therapy plans, whilst supporting Face-to-Face, Online, or Telephone sessions . You can also expect an initial free no-obligation 30-minute introductory consultation, to help you decide how you may feel about the counselling process and of course, consider any potential therapeutic relationship with the therapist too…so please, feel free to ‘CONTACT US’ to arrange your free initial consultation and I very much look forward to meeting with you soon…
My first session
Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ
At Storytime, I believe in the positive benefits of offering a Free 30-minute No Obligation Initial Consultation to all our potential clients, to try and alleviate any possible anxiety or worries around making that really important positive first step. This enables you the opportunity to find out more about how counselling works and what it can offer to an individual, whilst also having a chance to meet with me, the therapist and see how the whole experience feels, without worrying about any financial or contractual concerns.
This can be facilitated face to face, online or over the phone, and at this stage, I will only ask (with your consent) for the completion of a very short intake form prior, to give me a little piece of background information before meeting you.
This 'Initial Consultation' is really designed to be a way of 'getting to know each other' and hopefully will assist the individual to relax and be able to bring their 'true selves' to the session, and consequently leaving with a much better understanding of "What is Counselling"? and if they believe it presents the right personal investment for them to consider.
