About me and my therapy practice

I am a fully qualified Humanistic Integrative therapist offering Counselling and Psychotherapy to Adults, young adults, older adults and couples.

I have extensive previous experience working as a counsellor both within the NHS and the charitable sector.

My therapeutic style is warm, down to earth, authentic and grounded in an understanding of the importance of relationships. I help my clients explore their stories with the aim of freeing them from old habits and fears, which can then facilitate meaningful transformation.

Taking that first step in asking for help can be incredibly hard. I am able to offer you a safe, non-judgemental space to explore and make sense of difficult thoughts and feelings.

I welcome people from all backgrounds and ethnicities, sexual orientations and genders, ages, religions and classes. I strive to be sensitive to all the issues - both individual and cultural - that people from various backgrounds encounter in this world.

As my client, you are protected by both the Data Protection Act and the Ethical Guidelines of Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ , the regulatory body for Counselling and Psychotherapy

WE ARE NOT WHAT HAPPENED TO US, WE ARE WHAT WE WISH TO BECOME.

Practice description

I believe that forming a strong, contained therapeutic alliance between counsellor and client is central to the work. By establishing a warm, honest, relationship, I can support you in raising your self-awareness, helping you to gain a clearer understanding of your emotions and how you relate to others, possibly exploring areas which have previously been out of sight or inaccessible. I work collaboratively with whatever you bring to the sessions, you are always the guiding lead, as this is your space. The therapy room can be an exciting, unpredictable, emotional and sometimes humorous place I believe that when supported in the right way you can begin to connect with new, alternative scripts and behaviours which can enhance resilience, create meaning and allow space for change.

Imagine being properly heard by someone impartial, who demonstrates unconditional empathy, genuinely cares, has only your best interests at heart and can help you to work through whatever is troubling you. Imagine being in a safe and confidential space, on a day and time that suits you. Imagine having someone who is highly skilled and fully trained in all the main counselling theories and skills and can deliver an integrated course of talking therapy that is uniquely tailored just for you and your individual needs.

My first session

I offer a no cost 15 minute telephone consultation prior to arranging our assessment session, in order to answer any questions you may have about myself or my practice.

Our assessment session which is 1 hour, is an opportunity for me to take a brief history, discuss your difficulties, and to find out what changes you are looking to make.

During our lives , we are often faced with various challenges such as understanding our past experiences, processing our present situations and planning for the future - sometimes all of the above.

For you, the first session is a chance to see how therapy can support this process. You might like to prepare a list of questions: or simply just come as you are. Both are equally welcomed. By the end of our initial time together, my hope is that you would achieve a sense of whether you would like to work with me.

Subsequent sessions will be for a duration of 50 minutes and will be on a set day and time weekly.
