About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrated therapist, which means I have different ways I can support you, so if something isn’t working, or hasn’t previously worked, we can use that information to guide our sessions. I am qualified in several therapy modalities:
a) Psychodynamic, which helps us understand past patterns and experiences.
b) Gestalt, which gives us information about our unspoken thoughts.
c) Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which can help manage difficult thought patterns.
d) Person-centered, which is about you setting the agenda, and us exploring your inner thoughts and concerns.
I seek to understand you, working holistically, engaging the neuroscience that supports brain health. I consider the three most important factors in enabling change, feeling better, and personal growth, are:
1) How you connect with your therapist.
2) The type of therapy provided.
3) Where you are in your life today.
We can explore this in more detail when we speak over the phone, and you can decide, from our chat, how you would like us to work together. Thank you for reading my listing.
Practice description
I chose 'The Connection Room' because I believe the connection with your therapist is vital to your functioning future self. I aim to create a safe and welcoming place where you can feel confident to talk about what is on your mind, and where we can work together to get you back to your best.
There is no doubt that there will be times when you may find it difficult to talk about yourself and your experiences. This is normal. As we work together, we will explore this, and as you grow, we may even have moments when we smile and laugh. Having fun can play an important part in our recovery, and our future growth.
This space will hopefully enable you to say the things you may not have said before, test new ideas out, and slowly enable you to reorganise your intrusive or uncomfortable thoughts. More importantly, we will aim to build you to be your own inner therapist, enabling you to control those thoughts and emotions that have impacted on your wellbeing
My first session
Two questions you might be asking yourself are:
'How do I know counselling is right for me?'
'How do I know you are the right counsellor for me?'.
To alleviate some of this uncertainty, I offer a free telephone or online consultation. This gives you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about counselling, as well as an opportunity for us to talk about how we can work together. It is really important you feel confident that I am the right therapist for you. After our discussion, if you choose me, which I hope you do, we can plan the next steps in your journey.
