About me and my therapy practice
Hello, A warm welcome to you. My name is Maggi, a fully qualified British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ) registered counsellor. I am a Pluralistic Counsellor with an MSc in Counselling / PG Dip Counselling having trained at the University of Abertay.
I work in private practice in Central Dundee and can offer online, telephone, and face-to-face therapy. I will provide you with a safe, confidential space where we can work together at your pace to explore the issues that are creating difficulty in your life. It may be that changes in your life are presenting you with challenges, or you are feeling stuck and don’t know where to turn?
During the course of my training as a research-informed practitioner, I worked in the NHS counselling individuals with a diverse range of issues. Prior to this, my background is in music therapy (Mental Health and Learning Disability/PMLD). I also trained in Psychology, having gained an MA (Hons) Psychology degree at the University of Dundee, and have a Specialism in Mental Health advocacy and human rights, including helping individuals who present with conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, personality disorders, trauma, brain injury (TBI), Stroke, PTSD/CPTSD, Autism, ADHD and physical disabilities.
I feel passionate about providing a warm and healing space where our therapeutic relationship can grow, providing a foundation where you can be assured of genuinely being listened to and without judgement. I understand that taking that first step of reaching out could be the hardest thing to do and it takes courage, whether having had therapy in the past or this is your first. If you find that I am the right fit for you, you will always be warmly welcomed.
Practice description
Pluralistic Counselling emphasises a collaborative relationship between the client and therapist. I will ensure a secure, safe, and confidential space where we can work together regarding shared decision-making concerning tasks, methods, and therapy goals. Your goals may be short or long-term, or perhaps at the start of therapy you are unsure what these are? We could explore this together to help create the positive change you desire in your life’s journey.
Within the Pluralistic Framework, I draw upon a comprehensive holistic therapy model, recognizing that each person is unique and requires different approaches at various stages of therapy, flexibility, and effective engagement. I value your feedback throughout therapy to ensure that we are on track.
Your therapy will be specifically tailored to meet your individual needs, preferences, and desires, equipping you with the tools for a more fulfilling lifestyle.
Together, we will address your challenges, whether you prefer an open-ended or a more structured approach, or a blend of both, finding the approach that suits you best at your own pace.
I offer face-to-face, online, and telephone therapy. Home visits within the Tayside area can also be arranged. For further information, please see my website at www.fenwickcounsellingandpsychotherapy.com
My first session
I offer a free 15-minute Introductory Session via telephone. You will have a safe and confidential space for us to briefly explore what brings you to therapy, have answers to any questions you may have, and it will give us the opportunity to see if I am a good fit for you with no obligation. We can discuss your preferences of how your sessions will take place, whether this is by telephone, online, or face-to-face counselling, and arrange to get your first appointment booked in.
At all times, I will be guided by you and work together with you to ensure your preferences are listened to and respected.
