About me and my therapy practice
I work in what's called an 'Integrative' manner - drawing on various types of counselling styles (because they all have something different to offer). What works for one client doesn't always work for another. Flexibility is key in enabling you to come to terms with what is on your mind.
Underpinning everything I do is the concept of relationship. This involves empathy and unconditional regard - I won't judge you for your thoughts or feelings, but work with you to find the right path to overcome your struggles.
In working alongside you, I hope to help you see aspects of your life and relationships that you may have missed or have been unable to see so far.
Practice description
For me, counselling is all about putting the client first. Therefore, if we work together, I will ensure that it is your needs that are first and foremost in our sessions. I do not offer advice and all of the sessions are led by you, the client.
Working in a systemic way enables us to consider all aspects of your life which may have a bearing on your issues - family, relationships, friends and more.
I work with individuals, supporting them with issues such as anxiety, depression, phobias, stress, negative thinking, overthinking, shame, jealousy and more.
Many couples find their relationship has changed over time and that they feel they are no longer sharing similar values, yet want to reconcile this in order to stay together. Here, I would work with couples in order to overcome issues with communication, infidelity and intimacy amongst others.
I also work with teenagers (dependent on assessment), helping them with anxiety, school issues, school refusal, coping with family problems and more. I have a particular interest in neurodivergent teens - ADHD, Autism etc.
Please get in touch to discuss your needs.
My first session
Part of the first session is very much an information-gathering exercise where we explore the broader issues of what's going on for you and whether this fits in with my expertise.
Here we might also discuss appointments, timings, fees and answer any questions or queries you might have about moving forward.
By the end of this session, we should have covered the essential information about what's going on for you and how we might work together.
I don't think there is such a thing as a stupid question - if you want to know something, just ask!
And remember - you're in charge.
