About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome. There are many reasons why you may be seeking a listening ear right now.
Whatever emotional difficulties are showing up in your life I will provide you with a warm, compassionate, safe and confidential space to explore with you whatever challenges you bring, to guide you to new understanding.
I work with adults experiencing a wide range of issues including depression and anxiety, low self esteem, current affects of past trauma, including sexual and domestic abuse, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem and life transitions.
I previously volunteered as a counsellor, at a centre where many clients experienced domestic or sexual abuse. Prior to this, I facilitated Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction courses for individuals, general public groups and school teachers. A qualified Mindfulness teacher, having undertaken training through University of Exeter, I can offer this as a way to ground the sessions and, where appropriate, encourage clients to engage in an embodied relationship to their emotional world.
I am continually interested in how to live a fully embodied life, awakening to the ways in which we can shut parts of ourself off while opening to the possibility that, with greater insight, we can find freedom from what holds us back from joy, connection, purpose and meaning.
I look forward to meeting you.
Practice description
I consider you to be the expert of your own experience and the therapeutic relationship key to affecting change. Reflecting back what I hear you share, can widen the field of your awareness and emerging insights. As an integrative counsellor I draw on numerous approaches, I am particularly influenced by existential therapy – a humane approach to the wider context of life situations; systems therapy – which acknowledges the many, often conflicting, parts of a person and mindfulness – a compassionate encouragement to connect with all of who you are. I aim to gently challenge where appropriate and encourage you towards the change you seek.
