About me and my therapy practice
I am an Integrative Counsellor with experience of supporting clients with many different experiences and difficulties. These include depression, anxiety, bereavement including stillbirth and neonatal loss, trauma, self-harm, health anxiety and low self-esteem.
There are times when life can feel a struggle, thoughts and feelings become overwhelming, or 'you're not yourself' at the moment. This can lead to stress, anxiety and depression, or an inability to cope, which can start to effect your management of day to day life and relationships with others. This may be for an isolated incident such as a bereavement or long term thoughts/feelings/experiences or anything in-between. Having someone, listen, hear and understand what you've experienced has been shown to help. Clients have fed back how my support has helped them have a deeper understanding of themselves and make positive changes to their lives.
The relationship between us is at the centre of my work, my experience has consolidated how I facilitate this in a safe, supporting, and non-judgemental way. Giving you a calm, safe space to talk about your difficulties and experiences, at a pace to suit you. Being an integrative counsellor means I work with a few counselling theories. This allows me to adapt my support in a variety of ways, to meet your needs.
Please contact me arrange a call to see how I may be able to help you. I provide a free, initial 30 minutes telephone call.
Practice description
My main focus is Gestalt, a holistic approach, looking at how your past influences the present. This provides immediate support, and can help you understand your automatic responses, thoughts and feelings and potentially lead to a long-lasting change through a greater understanding of yourself. Being an Integrative Counsellor means I can adapt my work to provide support in ways that suit you best.
In addition to keeping my practice up to date by Continuous Professional Development study I have:
Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling - CPCAB
Online and Telephone Counselling Course - Counselling Tutor
CRUSE Bereavement Support Training
I have a background in nursing, initially working with adults. I then specialised in Neonatal Care for many years, during this time, I was the lead for the ‘Bereavement Group’.
My first session
I offer a free initial 30 minutes telephone call, for us to start building a good working relationship. It offers you the time to introduce yourself and what has been causing you difficulty, and potentially what you hope to achieve with counselling. It also allows me to introduce myself and the way I work, and how I see this meeting your needs.
