About me and my therapy practice

Thank you for visiting my profile.

I am primarily a person-centred therapist working with young people and adults, often using visualisation, art and creativity to explore issues and concerns.

Collaborative exploration broadly describes the way I work, sometimes using symbols, metaphor and creative visualisation. It is reflective work focusing on the therapeutic relationship.

Talking is fundamental but where creativity comes in - developed around feelings and imagery - it is very much client led.

Practice description

I offer online and face to face counselling for young people and adolescents from 11 years.

I also work with adults across a spectrum of concerns.

Counselling can help when things may feel too hard to cope with alone. Grief, loss, stress, anxiety, addictions, worry, trauma, fears, even when your body-clock, or emotions, get out of sync.

If you have not tried counselling before or are looking for a different therapeutic approach, I will be happy to talk through what is involved in advance.

My first session

A first session is about introductions, for you to consider how this may work for you and establishing what you would like to achieve through counselling.

It is an opportunity to consider the boundaries of the work, and agree the day, time and duration of the sessions.

Creativity is an organic part of the process which you may or may not want to focus on in your sessions. There are times when I will, figuratively, walk alongside you and times when I will reflect back, and sometimes challenge.

An introductory session is opportunity to talk about your concerns and, perhaps, goals.

In a non-judgemental environment you can freely, and confidently, explore your thoughts and feelings perhaps as a basis for a new way of looking at things, and at what may be perceived as helpful change.
