About me and my therapy practice

I am an integrative psychotherapist, counsellor and systemic family practitioner.

I work with families, couples, individuals, and children. I have a wealth of experience, having worked within the mental health field for over 20 years with a range of clients with emotional difficulties.

I have experience working within the NHS in a secondary care setting offering long-term psychotherapy, and within a primary care setting offering short-term counselling, and also within CAMHS.

I am passionate about helping children and families, couples, and individuals with mild to severe issues connected with stress, communication, building self-esteem, burn-out, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, identity, relationships, eating disorder, trauma, loss and bereavement, addiction, EUPD/bipolar disorder, abuse, perinatal depression, postnatal depression, etc.

I work in collaboration, which means I involve my clients in all aspects and processes. We work together, we discover together, we learn together, so clients get to understand how they relate with themselves and with others.

Working in collaboration also means negotiating and mutually agreeing on ways of working that are suitable for everyone involved with the process. I work in a relational and conversational manner and see myself as part of this therapeutic process and find it rewarding that I also learn about myself in this process. I provide a safe, non-judgemental space and environment where my clients can explore their experiences whether individually or within the family.

As an integrative psychotherapist I incorporate approaches that best suit the needs of my clients as I believe no one single approach can work for everyone.

I draw ideas in my work from various approaches: Psychodynamic, Humanistic, Jungian, Gestalt, Existential, Systemic, and some Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approaches.

Practice description

There are times in our lives when things become overwhelming and difficult; we feel anxious, depressed, confused, not understood, and sometimes we may not know how to make things better. When this starts to cause stress in our individual lives, relationships, home life, school, or work life, then this may be the time to seek the benefits of a professional therapist.

I provide a safe, empathetic, non-judgmental space and environment where my clients can explore their experiences whether individually or within the family.

The process of exploration can involve both past and present experiences. For example, I work with issues of attachment, early childhood relationships, and unresolved childhood difficulties, thereby bringing awareness to how these unresolved problems can play out in adult relationships. I believe the process of therapy can bring about awareness of relational and intergenerational patterns of behaviour and create space for change and new possibilities.

The process of therapy requires commitment and can be challenging, but it can also be very beneficial. To gain the maximum benefit it is important to stay, discuss, explore, and reflect on your circumstances, thoughts and feelings that emerge with your therapist. Clients are collaborating partners in the therapy process. The more you participate in the work, the more you are likely to gain.

As a therapist, I aim to help you make sense of your thoughts and feelings so that you are stronger and able to take responsibility for your actions and decision making. Therapy can help you identify and access the inner and external resources available to you, enhance your problem-solving skills, and can help you recognise the choices you have in order to implement change.

Psychotherapy should be an empathic and safe space where we learn and discover, develop and grow.

Healing can occur through feeling seen and heard in a safe environment and with the right therapist that fits your needs.
