About me and my therapy practice

I provide counselling in person and online to people from all walks of life and age groups. Sometimes life can feel too difficult to handle on your own and that’s where counselling can help. I support clients in making positive changes, building resilience and achieving personal growth.

I trained as an integrative humanist counsellor. This approach enables me to draw on several counselling theories which means that I am able to respond flexibly to each client’s specific situation and needs.

My experience to date as a counsellor has been with students in a local college, adults in a Community Counselling Service and both young people and adults in my private practice.

In the past, I have enjoyed careers in both business and secondary school teaching. During this time I gained extensive experience of coaching and mentoring people from a diverse range of backgrounds. I am currently a Specialist Mentor (Mental Health) at Kent University 2 days a week in addition to my counselling work.

Practice description

Counselling can assist us with the problems we encounter in life and can help us overcome self-destructive attitudes and behaviour. As a therapist, I seek to provide a comfortable, safe and confidential space where thoughts and feelings can be explored and worked through. This talking therapy can help my clients find a more constructive way of living and through this gain a stronger sense of inner fulfillment. Counselling can be either short term (typically 6-12 weeks) or longer term depending on the nature of the requirements.

My first session

The decision whether or not to go ahead is based on an initial, mutual assessment session. This gives me a chance to see whether or not I believe I am an appropriate person to help you and it gives you a chance to determine whether I am someone you feel comfortable enough to work with. This initial assessment is free of charge.
