About me and my therapy practice
I believe that connection is at the heart of what we do.
I place strong emphasis on building our therapeutic relationship and holding space to do the work.
I work from a humanistic viewpoint believing that everyone has the potential to find their own answers, however there are times when we need help and support to find these. I work in a supportive way providing insight and gentle challenge where appropriate.
Practice description
What is counselling?
As a counsellor I am here to help you navigate through life's challenges. If you are feeling stuck, anxious or overwhelmed, whether struggling with anxiety, depression, or relationship issues I am here to support you. Talking therapy allows you to explore your emotions in a non-judgemental supportive relationship, within a safe and confidential space.
How can it help?
We all have a view of the world that is our own based on our own life experience. Our understanding of how and why this impacts our wellbeing, our relationships and daily lives can help with a deeper understanding of ourselves and others.
Talking about these in a safe space, where there is no judgement or opinion can allow for exploration and understanding to help these challenging emotions.
Counselling can provide a listening ear that is impartial, allowing supported reflection to look at your worries and concerns and help you see a way through.
What to expect
As an integrative therapist I draw on different theories to find the best way of working together wether this is providing empathy, insight, psycho-education or gentle challenge. I work with talking therapies however also creatively when appropriate. This is your time and space where we can explore what is happening for you.
Our regular sessions will be 50 minutes and will be either face to face or online, depending on your preference.
My first session
I offer all clients an initial 15 minute zoom or telephone consultation to see if we are a good fit to work together prior to starting sessions.
Within my practice with children and young people I am happy to support a meeting with you, as a parent or carer, in the first instance to answer any queries or questions that you have about my practice or how I may work with your child. We can also arrange to hold part of our first session together so we can agree on boundaries and the limits of confidentiality within the therapeutic relationship. It is important for the person embarking on their therapy to be engaged and wanting to be a part of this.
