About me and my therapy practice

I am a Level 5 neurodivergent (autistic/ADHD) counsellor working with children and adults. I am currently studying (part-time) level 6 in Counselling and Psychotherapy. My working days are Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

I am a person-centred counsellor. This means that your sessions are led by you, my role being to support you in exploring what you need and what feels right for you. I offer a non-judgemental and empathic safe space in which you are free to explore any aspects of yourself, including what you may feel restricted to explore in your day to day life (away from social judgement and pressure). You may feel that you are not supported in your community. You could feel isolated, you might have lost your sense of who you are and/or you might feel disconnected from yourself. We will go at your pace, so you can fully explore your own concept of self in relation to the world; allowing you to become more aware of and connected to yourself and your needs, enabling you to feel empowered to make conscious choices around how you want to be in the world.

Given my personal experiences with neurodivergence and trauma, I’m particularly passionate about helping those who are neurodivergent and may be dealing with anxiety, depression, or trauma. Everyone’s experience is unique, and I am here to listen and support you through your memories, thoughts and feelings. I know it could feel hard and scary to allow yourself to look at these and attempt to trust someone with them. However, I believe that this could be a step towards healing. If you feel an internal push towards something that you find difficult, I am here to support you to navigate your path with safety and trust being at the forefront of our relationship.

Online/outdoor Counselling is 50 min long and £70 per session. Concessions are £50.

Practice description

I support my clients in their self-discovery journey via my belief that:

1. Knowledge is power.

2. The first moment of power is the first moment of awareness.

3. Self-kindness enables openness to new ideas.

4. Awareness of choices means power to choose.

Many of us carry unconscious beliefs that we may have picked up from our childhoods. When we are not aware of these, we can feel lost and disconnected within ourselves and/or the world: How we are expected to be, may not match how we want to be. We may feel blocked or stuck but may find it difficult to connect with the ‘why’. It is hard to live fulfilled lives when we are not aware of what it is we really want, need, desire or value. I believe that knowledge is power, and open sharing of knowledge is beneficial when exploring our own truths. I would share any knowledge/information that I feel may be of benefit to you, allowing for open discussion and critical exploration for you to take what resonates with you and leave what does not. I would support you within your process offering you a safe space in which we could reflect on thoughts and feelings that come up for you, helping you to develop autonomy in your choices.

Becoming aware of new things may feel overwhelming, and we may need time to process this. Offering ourselves self-kindness is key to becoming more open and aware, as the kinder we are to ourselves the safer we tend to feel to explore what is going on for us. Also, the harsher we are with ourselves the more we tend to shut down awareness because it does not feel safe. While self-kindness might feel alien and impossible in our fast-paced world, I’m here to help you explore your thoughts and feelings around this concept if you would like to.

As we learn to be kind to ourselves, openness to awareness begins to happen and the more we realise that we have real choices and power to choose what is right for ourselves. The kinder we can be towards ourselves, the kinder we can naturally become towards others.
