About me and my therapy practice
I am qualified as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist through Goldsmiths College’s MA Programme, a Level 2 Fitness Instructor and MHFA.
I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space for individuals to explore the questions and issues which may be causing difficulties in their lives. People seek psychotherapy for many reasons, and the emphasis in our work will be exploring what is important to you, at a pace which suits you.
Currently I work principally online with some availability for in-person work. I also partner with a personal trainer to work in 2-1 (therapist, PT and client) mode for individuals wishing to incorporate movement and physical exercise into their lives and explore the embodied dimension of their wellbeing and selves, improving all-round health.
Practice description
The psychodynamic school of psychotherapy is among the most longstanding of therapy approaches and it considers both a client’s past and present to discover what may be preventing them from living fully. This approach views the human mind (or psyche) as dynamic, with thoughts, feelings and memories interacting in many ways, aiming to bring these into awareness. I also draw on ideas from existentialism and other philosophies offering valuable guides on the task of living well. I am also mindful of the social and cultural forces surrounding us and the ways in which sexuality, gender, race, faith and class form us. Above all I aim to build therapeutic relationships in which individuals feel able to speak about anything they wish to – perhaps the only space in their lives where they can do so. I have experience of working both with adolescents and adults, with gender- and sexuality-questioning individuals, and in groups and individual gym sessions.
Session Schedule
Individuals sessions begin at 11am Tuesdays and end at 6.30pm (in-person in Oswestry), Wednesdays 1pm-4pm (online only) and Thursdays 9am-12pm (in person and online).
My first session
I offer a free initial phone consultation where we can exlore what has motivated you to seek help, with a further one-hour consultation charged at £50 to discover more about your search for support. If we agree to work together our 50-minute session will be held at the same time each week. At present I work online via Zoom and in-person in Oswestry, Shropshire. My fee is £60 per session, or £80 for those earning over £60,000/year, and I offer some concessionary spaces for individuals on low incomes. I request that fees are paid in advance of each session. After we choose to work together I will send you a copy of my client-therapist agreement which sets out information on confidentiality, holidays and cancellations.
