About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative humanistic counsellor who works creatively with compassion and curiosity to provide a space within which clients can create change in their lives.
I incorporate Gestalt and Existential practice into my work, which is at its heart, Person-Centred (happy to explain what this means and how I work if you're interested!).
My counselling practice builds on my background in health psychology (in addition to my counselling training I have an MSc in Health Psychology from Sussex University and BSc in psychology from Exeter University) and my career in social research, where I investigate lots of different topics that are important to people, including topics like couples' relationship difficulties, communication within families, and young people's perspectives. I've also carried out research into sensitive topics, including the impact of sexual violence on people and needs of sexual violence survivors, the experience of feeling suicidal when living with domestic abuse, and the needs of people bereaved by suicide.
Counselling relationships support people to create change in their lives. I believe that the most important aspect of this is the relationship you build with your counsellor, so if you'd like to contact me so we can explore if we'd be a good fit to work together, just let me know.
I have experience of working with people with neurodiversity, including people with ADHD and autism. I am an LGBTQIA+ ally. I have extensive experience of working with bereaved and grieving people, including those who have experienced bereavement by suicide.
In addition to working with clients, I deliver training and provide research/writing support to student counsellors, and deliver suicide and self harm training to external organisations.
