About me and my therapy practice
Welcome, I work with adults and young people offering face to face counselling in my private counselling setting near Deal. The location is welcoming and discrete. My location offers flexibility around hours for after school/college / working hours. As I can offer later sessions if required. I also offer zoom and telephone sessions for your convenience.
I am a fully qualified Integrative counsellor registered with the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ. I am trained to work with a broad range of mental health issues: Anxiety disorders, dark intrusive thoughts, Depression, Stress related issues, Family issues, domestic abuse, Relationships, Abuse, Low self-worth, Loss of confidence, Identity Issues,Gender dysmorphia, LGBTQ. I also have experience of working with teens and young people with various Neurodivergence. (diagnosed and undiagnosed).
I am person centred in my approach, which means I feel or relationship together is key in this process. I also use other types of therapy depending on what you need. My way of working is to explore your experience, from there the therapy will be tailored specifically around your unique needs. I understand how daunting it can be to talk to at first a stranger. I want you to feel safe and held in our relationship, to allow you to work through whatever you are struggling with. I am told by clients that I am professional, non judgmental & very easy to talk to.
In our work together my hope is for you to begin to be able to understand & empower yourself. Rather than struggling with the issue alone, to feel safe in our relationship. Therefore, it will be a joint process between us both, with you leading the way. I work at your pace with the aim to move forward in whatever way that looks. You will gain healthy coping mechanisms to function better, gain awareness and understanding. To move forward, through the therapy.
Practice description
My private practice is called 'The Quiet Space." Counselling for young people and adults. I offer in person sessions as well as zoom and telephone. I offer short term minimum of 6-8. Sessions will be revised at this point to see if we are a suitable fit) and long-term work. Sessions are 55 minutes each week and will be set between us for a regular time. When we meet we will discuss what has been going on for you, the issues, as well as looking at what you would like from counselling. Or, if you are unsure, but just need a 'quiet space' to voice something that is extremely painful, I will hold your space.
As well as running my private practice I have also worked for The East Kent College Group counselling young people, adults and staff. This was a highly fulfilling role. Prior to my counselling career, I worked with survivors of domestic abuse for 7 years. I feel this has helped with knowledge & experience of this issue, as well as understanding how mental health can be affected.
How do I get in touch?
You can message or email me I will respond with 24 hours.
I offer a free 20 minute initial consultation via the telephone or zoom. This is so we can discuss what has brought you to therapy, your expectations, concerns, issues, goals. During this I will do a small assessment, it will include things such as previous counselling experience, presenting issues, goals etc. This helps me to build a profile of your needs to ensure I can help you the best way possible.
If you feel happy to go ahead, we will arrange a time, day, frequency together. There is no obligation if also you would like to take your time think about it, or explore other counsellors. Counselling is a personal process and I feel the success of the therapy relies greatly on the relationship between us.
My first session
I understand how daunting it can feel to confide in at first a stranger. I want you to feel welcomed and safe to explore your concerns with me.
Our first session is where we will meet, get to know one another, and begin to develop a relationship together. We will look at what has brought you to counselling and begin to explore the issue in hand together. I will talk to you about confidentiality, and we will contract together. I want you to feel informed from our first session, so please ask as may questions as you needs. From there the sessions are for you to bring what you need.
Our work together will be unique to you. Each person is unique and therefore so will be the therapy. Whatever it is, bring what you need, I am here for you.
