Practice description
People seek therapy for all sorts of reasons; perhaps they are struggling with anxiety, depressed feelings, difficulties in relationships, at work or with looking after themselves. Some might find themselves stuck in repeated patterns they want help to understand and change. There might be a clear issue they want help with or perhaps they are struggling to identify what they’re feeling and why. They may want to feel better about themselves or about life.
What is psychotherapy?
Psychodynamic psychotherapy therapy helps people gain a deeper understanding of themselves, their experiences and the world around them, helping them move on and lead more fulfilling lives. It helps people understand how their current feelings and behaviour can be shaped by past experiences. It aims to get to the root of someone's difficulties to help create long lasting change.
How can my approach to psychotherapy help you?
My psychodynamic therapy practice helps people make sense of their experiences by exploring past and present. I provide an empathic, non-judgmental space for people to share their thoughts and feelings freely. Psychodynamic therapy is typically considered a more in-depth therapeutic approach. Understandably, this can take time, so I work in an open-ended way allowing people to take the time they need. We can discuss time-limited therapy too if this is a preference.
My first session
I offer a free initial telephone call to briefly discuss what had led you to seeking therapy and what you might be looking for so we can have a think about whether we’d be a helpful match.
If we decide to go ahead, we’d arrange an initial consultation (which may be across one or two sessions charged at the usual session rate) where we would have a more in depth discussion about what brings you to therapy and to talk about working together. If we decide to proceed, we would then confirm a regular weekly appointment time.
