About me and my therapy practice

I work with children from age four through to young people in their early 20's. I absolutely love what I do and find my work to be both fascinating and rewarding.

I'm an integrated therapist, meaning I'm trained in and work with a variety of therapy models,  including play therapy for younger children. This allows me to adapt my practice to the needs of each person and session without being limited by one particular  perspective or method. I work with a high number of neurodivergent clients (ASC in particular) and adapt session format and pace if it feels appropriate.  I'm an intuitive, relaxed and engaged therapist and find that I form bonds with clients quickly and easily.

Central to my practice is providing a space in which you feel relaxed and safe enough to express yourself. I find that when people feel that they are being heard without judgement, they are much more likely to be willing to explore the issues they may be struggling with.

I also believe strongly in collaboration and fostering a sense of autonomy with my clients. This means that we work together to decide what you would like to address and how you prefer to work. I'm not here to tell you what to do, I'm here to help you find a way through.

Practice description

My practice is at my home in Lewes, East Sussex, although I also offer online sessions.

An initial appointment is usually arranged for us to get to know each other and so that I can answer any questions you might have. The therapy can be 'open-ended' (number of sessions not specified) or time-limited (6 sessions, for example).  Generally, its best to have sessions at the same time each week to avoid confusion.

You are very welcome to tell me if something doesn't feel useful or if you want to change the focus of your therapy. Its your session and it needs to be right for you. I believe in working together, from start to finish. You are the one living your life, and I'm here to help you navigate some of the storms.

There are always things like toys, art materials and fidgets available if you prefer to 'do' as we talk. I also have a very sweet (and large) Labradoodle who is always keen to meet you if you are a dog person.

As with all therapy, the content of our sessions will remain confidential (between you and I), and if something comes up which might compromise that, we'll talk it through.

My first session

The first session is about getting to know each other and making sure everything feels comfortable. You won't need to fill out any assessment forms but it may be useful to think about what you're struggling with before you arrive. This can help to give us a picture of how we might best work together.
