About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative counsellor, offering a very warm and safe space for you to share the difficulties you are having.
Clients come to see me struggling with issues such as depression, anxiety, and trauma of all kinds.
You may be experiencing relationship problems - with family, friends, colleagues or a partner, or struggling to have a healthy, happy relationship. Maybe you are experiencing repeating patterns and you don’t know how to change them.
Perhaps you aren’t feeling good about yourself and are struggling with low self-worth or self-esteem or that negative voice within you is loud, holding you back or making it very difficult to connect with other people and the world around you.
Having a harsh inner critic or negative voice inside our heads can be debilitating and in itself can cause depression and anxiety.
With acceptance and kindness, I will help you to explore the issues that you are experiencing. I offer a confidential and inclusive space where you can share your thoughts and feelings freely without any fear of judgement. I will listen and learn how it feels to be you. I am deeply empathic and I genuinely care about my clients and the difficulties they are having. My clients feel heard and deeply understood with compassion and sensitivity.
Practice description
As an integrative practitioner, I can draw upon many ways of working. My way of being is person-centred and then from this place I make use of psychodynamic theory. I am trauma-informed. I also offer my clients practical techniques and tools for dealing with issues such as anxiety, and CBT to help with creating new thought patterns. In addition I have trained in NLP and tools taken from this can be offered if it feels appropriate.
At first the difficulties facing us can seem huge and so much bigger than us, but as we grow in therapy, we begin to feel those challenges as more manageable. As unresolved, difficult feelings are contained and felt and new thought patterns are created, clients can begin to overcome the effects of depression, anxiety and stress and re-establish trust. This can then positively affect work and relationships, new more positive options can become available and an increased level of contentment is possible.
Clients experience a variety of positive outcomes. These can include a softening of the harsh voice in their head or for some a greater ability to recognise this voice when it occurs and to challenge it. Self-worth and self-compassion can increase and the ability to feel and work with their own emotions with a greater level of kindness and understanding.
I have an interest in spirituality of all types and how this can help our healing, and at times, hinder it. However I work with many clients for whom spirituality is not relevant and this is not present at all in the work. I am guided by the client and what their individual wants and needs are.
I offer both short-term counselling and long-term psychotherapy.
Sessions are £50 on Zoom or £70 in person at King's Cross.
