About me and my therapy practice
Sometimes life can feel overwhelming and intense. At times we all need support and help to get us through difficult times.
As simple as it sounds the power of talking and sharing is immense. Being understood and listened to has a power and a healing of its own. It is my job to be there for you whilst you unpack and explore your feelings, thoughts and situations in your life.
My name is Lucia. I am a qualified humanistic therapist with experience of supporting people of all ages, including young people, through difficult times in their lives. I have experience in helping clients with many issues, including stress and anxiety, relationship issues, family conflicts, ADHD, autism, boarder line personality disorder, addiction, domestic abuse, dementia and trauma and abuse.
Practice description
I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will not judge you or tell what you should do, but I will be along side you as you unpack and explore what is going on in your life. We may explore your past and childhood and see if there are any links between the past and the present that could be impacting you negatively. Sometimes we will come up with a plan together or I might make suggestions or give you an activity to do outside of the sessions. I draw on psychodynamic theory, gestalt and cognitive behaviour therapy to help us. I also use art and creative techniques if clients enjoy working this way. The sessions are always about you, the client, and what you want and need, any suggestions I make are just suggestions and it is always up to you if we do then or not.
My first session
I offer a free initial phone call or zoom session so that we can get to know each other and get a sense of whether we would like to work together.
Our first few sessions will all be about getting to know each other and for me to learn about you, and for you to decide if you would like to work with me. It is very important that you feel comfortable and safe with the therapist you work with, so please do take your time to find the right person for you and use the initial sessions to make that decision and to check that you feel comfortable. I will also take some details and find out a bit more about your situation at this point.
Over the next few sessions we will explore what it is you would like to work on in therapy and we might set some goals and aims so that we know what we are working towards.
As the sessions develop we will explore in more depth your life, how you feel and think and what you want to change and develop.
We will regularly review your goals and aims and check that the therapy is providing you with what you want and need.
