About me and my therapy practice

Do you have a child or young person who is struggling with their emotions? Do you or they need support for these? Is this causing you worry?

Are you smiling on the outside but deep down, not feeling yourself?

Many things in life can cause us to feel stressed or anxious, including seeing someone we love going through a difficult time

As a fully qualified and experienced person-centred counsellor, I can support you in finding your way back to the best version of yourself.

I aim to offer a safe and welcoming space for you to reflect on the experiences that have bought you to counselling and the individual way in which these experiences may be affecting your life. Being able to reflect on these can be empowering and free you to move to a place of emotional and psychological fitness.

I offer counselling and support to adults and families, but I am most passionate about working with children and young people. I am able to do this offering a variety of methods including using play therapy, sand tray therapy and creative art therapy where appropriate.

My specialist area is working with children and young people who may have or identify as having a SEN diagnosis. These may include but not be limited to:

Austism

Dyspraxia

Adhd

Dyslexia

Dyscalculia

Dysgraphia

I am passionate about working with children and young people who are neurodivergent to ensure they receive the appropriate support for them. I can offer support for children and families that are going through the diagnosis process, help in coming to terms with a diagnosis, help to develop coping strategies or support to deal with some of the associated behaviours that come with some SEN diagnoses. I also have a wealth of experience with young people with anxiety, disordered eating and those exhibiting self-injurious behaviours.

Practice description

Sometimes life can feel heavy, or you can feel as though you are stuck, but person-centred counselling can help you to make sense of what’s going on and empower you to move forward.

Person-centred therapy places the expertise on the client. As your therapist, I am there to offer an empathic environment and support while you are on your journey towards living your best life. Person-centred therapy is flexible, and client led, this means that decide how to use the space and what is most important for you to talk about each session.

I work in an integrative way drawing from my experience and different modalities to support you as every person is different, so therefore I feel we all have different needs and one way of working may not be suitable for everyone. Your individual needs can be discussed at your assessment to ensure that you are comfortable and getting what you need from the therapeutic space.

As a member of the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ, I ensure I work to the highest standard, within their code of ethics and that I continue to grow and develop my own knowledge with continual training and development.

I also have an enhanced DBS check.

My first session

For many people especially children and young people, starting therapy can be very daunting. Finding a counsellor that you feel safe and comfortable with is important. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the key to change.

Before we have our first session, I offer a brief phone call to discuss your needs. If you are comfortable with myself after this, we will have an assessment where you can tell me what it is you are hoping to get from counselling and we can discuss the best way for us to work together. Once we have began building that trusting relationship, we can look at and work on what stands in the way of you becoming the best version of yourself.
