About me and my therapy practice

I trained at Tavistock Relationships, an internationally-renowned provider of relationship counselling, as a couple and individual psychodynamic psychotherapist. I also hold an MA in Couple and Individual Psychotherapy from the University of East London.

I work with couples and individuals and have a special area of interest in how we behave and communicate in relationships. Psychodynamic therapy is about working with the unconscious and that would include thinking about childhood experiences, relationships with parental figures, previous couple relationships and role models. We can explore how these have affected a current relationship or how these impact challenges around staying in a relationship.

I also hold a QTS teaching qualification and my work with children has given me a broad understanding on child development. In my work with couples I have found this useful around parenting challenges and the dynamic between the partners in the couple when they don't agree over parenting decisions.

I have previously worked as a visiting clinician at Tavistock Relationships and I attend regular supervision and CPD events to discuss my work and enhance my training and experience with clients.

I work within the codes of ethics of my member organisations and comply with the current data protection regulations, which maintain confidentiality and ensure data is not passed on to any third party without your permission.

I am a graduate member of TRAPC (Tavistock Relationship Association for Psychotherapists and Counsellors) and a registered member of the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ (British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists). I am fully insured for my work.

Practice description

My approach is psychodynamic and as such, a particular focus of the work is to help you link different aspects of your experiences, both inside and outside of relationships. In the long run, this will hopefully help you gain awareness of the dynamics in your relationships, learn about any difficult triggers and their meanings and enhance your understanding of what is going on, giving you the tools to create the changes you are hoping for.

My first session

Once we agree to meet, I will invite you to an initial consultation. This is an opportunity for you to explain what has brought you to therapy and to ask any questions you may have. It is also a chance for me to find out more about you, your (and your partner's) history and any other relevant information, so we can get an idea if we may be a good fit as client/s- therapist. The initial consultation will take 50 minutes and sometimes a secondary session is advised. Following this, we can decide together if ongoing therapy with me is the right choice for you.
