About me and my therapy practice
We all go through challenging phases and encounter painful experiences at certain points in our lives. Sometimes we may experience trauma and may not feel safe in our bodies. Sometimes something gets missed as we grow up and we may end up developing negative beliefs about ourselves. While it’s possible to navigate some of these experiences on our own, there may be times when we feel the need to seek the support of a therapist.
My goal is to provide you with the tools and skills necessary to feel safe in your body, develop new strategies of coping, and to improve your emotional wellbeing. Together, we will work on helping you lead a more meaningful life and become your empowered, happy and authentic self.
I am an Integrative Psychotherapist, with 15 years of experience and specialize in trauma. I am certified in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, one of the leading approaches to trauma and attachment repair.
Practice description
• I believe that every person is unique, has their own character, history, and presenting needs. For that reason I tailor my treatment accordingly. I integrate attachment theory, existential, gestalt, and trauma approaches with mindfulness and compassion practices and neuroscience. My approach is active yet gentle and safe using various techniques and skills.
• I believe that human beings have an capacity to heal and evolve. I will meet you where you are in your development and honor your strengths and resources, while being mindful of your cultural beliefs and traditions.
• I adopt a non-judgmental attitude respecting and accepting all parts of you with empathy and compassion, especially the ones you may find hard to accept.
• We work in collaboration: you are an active participant in your journey of healing, growth and empowerment.
My first session
I offer a free fifteen minute consultation call. The purpose of this call is to help us both establish if I am best suited for your current needs based on my experience, training, and personality. It also gives you the opportunity to ask me questions about how I work and get a sense of what it’s like talking to me. If we establish that it is the case, we will then book an initial assessment session. Should I not be the best fit for you, I will give you an appropriate referral to someone else I think could help you.
The aim of the initial assessment session is for us to get to get to know each other and for me to understand in more depth about what brings you to therapy and what you hope to achieve from coming to therapy. I will also learn about your current life issues, history and risks. Lastly, I will spend some time discussing the therapy contract, a mutual agreement between therapist and client, which ensures a safe, professional, and clearly defined experience between the two. Before the end of our session I will share with you how I think therapy can help you and agree together on how to proceed with treatment.
