About me and my therapy practice
I am a person centred counsellor, offering counselling to individuals and couples. Person centred counselling understands the significance of the therapeutic relationship between the client and therapist as a crucial part of the healing process.
My intention is to create a space where you feel heard, understood and supported in the counselling process. Together we can explore areas of difficulty that you would like to bring into awareness- gaining insight and understanding about yourself, your experiences, your relationships and the world around you. I aim to follow your pace, and meet you where you are with compassion and acceptance. I invite you to be curious about yourself, with the understanding that awareness can be a powerful catalyst for positive change.
With a background in oriental medicine and buddhist practices, some mindfulness techniques can be introduced as part of the process, if it feels relevant to you as an individual. I also have an interest in Jungian analysis, gestalt, psychosynthesis, somatic work, creative forms of expression and poetry which may be introduced if these ‘fit’ with your own unique preference.
I have specialist training and experience in working with people who are affected by eating disorders. I also have specialist training and experience working with couples.
Practice description
I offer both in person and online work for clients seeking long term, or short term counselling.
My practice space in the centre of Glastonbury is comfortable and private. You can park nearby for free.
I offer appointments between Monday- Friday.
Sessions are 60 minutes for individuals and 90 minutes for couples.
My first session
In our first session I will ask you some questions to get to know you, and identify your needs and intentions for therapy. You will have an opportunity to set goals if you wish to do so, and you will be invited to ask any questions you may have. We will spend some time looking at the contract and checking that you feel comfortable with our working agreement.
At the end of this session we can discuss whether we both feel drawn to working together and if there is a particular way of working that feels most suitable for you as an individual.
