About me and my therapy practice
Hello. My name is Peter Junior Royal. I am a fully qualified integrative counsellor/psychotherapist and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ).
Finding a counsellor can feel overwhelming and daunting, particularly for someone seeking professional help for the first time. I can offer you a safe, non-judgmental and confidential space to help you understand what you are experiencing. My therapeutic goal is to provide a relationship whereby you can safely explore your inner world, better understand yourself and your relationships and become empowered to live a whole, authentic life. I try to see the world through your eyes and understand things from your perspective through meaning-making.
Practice description
I work both remotely and in-person with the aim of accommodating your needs. Each session will last approximately 50 minutes. I tend to invite clients to share what they would like to work on for the session and then we can delve in it and explore the chosen topic further.
In terms of payments, I use a booking system called fresha to book sessions. Once our first session has been agreed, I will add you to my client list and you should get a text message asking you to confirm the session with a payment.
My first session
During the first session, it will be important for us to discuss confidentiality and then this would be followed by what we call "contracting". Contracting in counselling will involve discussion around what to expect, location of counselling, cost, boundaries and the potential duration of our work together.
Initial appointments may involve some history taking. This is a chance to get to know each other and for clients to see if they would like to continue.

Hi, I am Peter Royal. A licenced counsellor and psychotherapist based in Hertfordshire. Starting counselling can feel daunting and for many this will be there first time speaking to anyone about what they are experiencing. I offer a safe, non-judgemental and open space for you to explore your presenting issue. We will look closely at the factors that are currently contributing to this problem, as well as, past influences.
Practice description
I work both remotely and in-person. This creates flexibility for clients and enables them to decides what they feel is best.
I offer free telephone consultation, which can allow clients to get to ask any questions before the first sessions.
My first session
During the first session, I like to start the session by looking at confidentiality and what that means in our work together.
Once this has been discussed, we can begin contracting and discussing other elements of our work together, which may include the frequency of our sessions, boundaries and other practicalities. The aim is for us both (all) to create this together.
Finally, look at what has brought you to therapy and create a goal for our work together.
