About me and my therapy practice

I’m Helen and I can offer you a safe therapeutic space to be yourself and to be heard.

I believe therapy is about having an independent, non-judgemental guide to help you get to a place of personal insight. It’s about giving you the space and time to think and explore, the freedom that comes from being able to have an honest conversation and the safety to experiment and create change. Human to human, we’ll work on it together.

I’m an integrative counsellor, which means integrating different therapy approaches that are tailored to you and what you need. It might mean exploring relationships with others, with yourself or to the past to help you make sense of what’s going on.

The process of counselling is often organic, uncomfortable and messy. It can often give you a different answer to the question you started with. From my experiences as both client and counsellor, I think it’s a wonderful thing.

I support a wide range of issues that we face as humans including:

Perimenopause and menopause

Life transitions and living with uncertainty

Identity, purpose and meaning

Anxiety

Depression

Loss

Bereavement

Low self-esteem

Relationships

I have a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and was a proud Samaritan volunteer for 12 years.

I’m a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ) and a member of the British Menopause Society.

Practice description

I currently offer video counselling by Zoom or telephone counselling. Counselling sessions are usually weekly, on the same day and at the same time, lasting 50 minutes.

Most people work with me on an open ended basis, but some clients find starting with a fixed number of sessions helpful. This is something we can agree together at the start and reassess regularly as your counselling progresses.

My first session

You can get in touch with me by e-mail, text or phone.

As it’s important to find a therapist who you feel comfortable with and who is the right fit for you, I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation to discuss why you’re seeking counselling and how we might work together.

When we’ve arranged your first online video or telephone session, I’ll email you our counselling agreement before our first session.  And in our first session we'll work together through an assessment form to help me understand a bit more about you.

Both the agreement and the assessment session provide us with a good foundation to begin our therapeutic work together.
