About me and my therapy practice
Hi, thanks for reading my profile. I am sorry life is hard for you right now.
Things can happen in the past, in the now or are maybe looming in your future and can seem overwhelming. Sharing your thoughts and ideas in a confidential space, with a trained professional can really help.
Stress can manifest as burnout, anxiety, anger or low mood. Perhaps you feel as though you are in a cycle that you don't know how to stop? Life events and loss or confusion about your identity can knock confidence and leave you feeling wobbly and vulnerable. These situations impact your everyday life, stealing happiness and filling nights with worry. In an ever-changing world it is common to feel lost or like you are churning over the same problems, not seeing a way forward leading to low mood and depression.
Changes in life, such as retirement, menopause, becoming a parent/carer, or family disruptions can pull the rug from under your feet. This feeling can be like freefalling. Taking the time to sit down and gently explore what this feels like can help to sort through what you think about the situation and what you need to feel more grounded.
Is bereavement is leaving you with lingering sadness and a gap that is hard to negotiate or your long-term relationship has become toxic and you feel trapped, like you have lost a part of yourself?
Maybe you are a student struggling with the transition into adulthood and processing thoughts and feelings as you leave home?
In our sessions together we can explore life events, thoughts or relationships which can help to 'release the valve' and give some relief to the anxiety, anger, low mood or depression that can build up when you hold everything in.
I offer a place of equality and acceptance for all genders. Without judgement I will listen carefully to you and look at life from your perspective, then together we can explore a route forward
Practice description
I am trained integratively with a humanistic focus.
In a nutshell this means that I put you in the centre of our work and not my theory. I have the knowledge to use CBT, psychodynamic and person centred approaches but will use your skills and knowledge to tailor your therapy to work with you. I work with compassion and can be gentle, but will also challenge you if that is what works best for you to promote positive change.
I work both short and long term.
I am welcoming to all and offer a ground floor entrance, toilet and off street parking next to entrance.
My first session
I can offer a free short introductory where you can ask any questions and get to know each other.
In our first initial session we will establish what your blocks are and aims for your counselling.
