About me and my therapy practice
Background
I am a Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ registered therapist and supervisor based in Exeter with over 30 years experience working with Psychology, transitioning from academia and social services to the counselling role. I have learned that clients can recover from their problems when experiencing the right conditions of empathy, acceptance and allowing a safe space to process and explore. I believe that the relationship between client and counsellor is paramount to build up trust and support. When this connection is established , it is the first important step to positive change. I meet clients at all stages of recovery and work within time limits or can provide long term therapy. Clients have described me as warm, compassionate, down to earth and non- judgmental.
Practice description
I offer face to face or online counselling, psychotherapy and supervision sessions and work from a therapy room in central Exeter. I am an integrative counsellor, which means I draw from various therapies which inform my counselling philosophy. I especially base my work on Person-Centred, CBT and Gestalt models and believe that ‘one therapy does not suit everyone’. The therapy style chosen therefore is very much informed by the client and the issues presented. With each client, I aim to work in three stages- to connect, explore and then integrate.
I am trained in creative therapeutic work and can use creative therapy to work with adults and children aged 4 and above and am particularly influenced by polyvagal theory and psychosocial theories of attachment. I have experience of neurodiversity and mental health issues and work with clients who have both ASD and ADHD.
Qualifications
BA (Hons) Applied Social Studies, Cert Ed, DIPSW, Certificate in Counselling-Level 3, Advanced Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling Theory and Practice- Level 4, Post Qualifying Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People, MSc Psychology, BA(Hons) Integrative Counselling, Diploma in Supervision
I also work for the Intercom Trust, a South West based LGBTQIA + charity and am an affirming therapist for this community. My other specialisms include working with domestic violence and abuse and college and school students.
My first session
The first assessment session will be 45 minutes and £40. This will involve gathering information, contracting and getting to know the client and establish a working relationship. I try to keep the paperwork to a minimum and concentrate on really listening to what the client needs and wants from therapy.

About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified integrative counsellor and psychotherapist who uses several modalities including CBT, Person Centred Therapy and Neuroscience to inform my practice and provide a bespoke service for each client. I am also a qualified supervisor for counsellors working with both adult and CYP clients. I work with individual clients and provide group supervision. I often work creatively using sand tray and art as well as using more traditional methods. The sessions are client led and varied.
Practice description
I offer counselling, psychotherapy and supervision in a safe and confidential space where you can talk openly about your thoughts and feelings, along with any emotional or mental health problems you are facing. Counselling and supervision are not a ‘one size fits all’ approach and I combine a variety of techniques that help you as an individual. My service is Integrative. I work with student counsellors, qualified counsellors and groups. I currently run group supervision sessions for a local LGBTQI charity as well as seeing individual clients.
My first session
The first session will give the supervisee the opportunity to see if my service is right for them and I can offer what they need for their particular client list. We will establish a working partnership and set some goals about future collaboration. It will form an assessment of supervisory practice.
