About me and my therapy practice

My relationship with you would be unique and I know that with over 25 years' experience of working with a wide range of clients that I can draw upon all of my training and specialist approaches where necessary.

I see adult clients ranging in age from 18 to 80 who may be anxious or depressed or those struggling with bereavement or loss.   This can be loss of job, life transitions and the difficulty of 'leaving behind' e.g. a country, a culture, perhaps an abusive relationship or any situation which might cause panic or fear.

I have a particular interest in helping clients who were sent away to boarding school and may be realising that their difficulties with forming and sustaining intimate relationships may stem from that time.   I have experience in helping those who have suffered as a result of difficult or abusive relationships and adult survivors of child sexual abuse.

Practice description

I work as an integrative therapist which means that I can draw from different modalities to suit my individual clients.   I see clients for short or long term therapy helping them to understand and give meaning to distressing elements of their life.  Many come to therapy realising that their current problems may be rooted in their past and wishing to move forward with their lives.  Such issues would be sensitively and carefully explored.  Some clients have a clear idea of the root of their problems but have difficulty in motivating themselves to embrace change.    I would hope to facilitate such change.

My first session

Please allow up to one hour for the first session which will be used to talk about what is worrying you and whether we feel we can work together.

I do take notes at this stage and there will be more 'questions and answers' than in an ongoing counselling session when you would be more 'in the driver's seat'.

We would make a verbal contract to work weekly for a number of weeks or longer term if that is your wish.

I would expect to be paid in cash or by cheque at the first session.  Thereafter I usually invoice my clients at the end of each month and payment can be made by BACS.
