About me and my therapy practice
I work with individuals and couples from all backgrounds either face-to-face in Surrey or London and online. I have experience of working with anxiety, panic disorders, depression, OCD and self-esteem, anger issues, stress, burnout and relationship difficulties. I also have a special interest in and experience of working with trauma.
My approach is primarily existential. With the leading of a more meaningful existence being the aim of this approach. Developing through our exploration an acceptance that life brings pleasure and pain, success and failure, joy and sadness. Learning to live within and at the edges of these paradoxes can give us a freedom. A freedom from our usual patterns and ways of thinking.
I am a warm, compassionate therapist. My style is conversational and collaborative. I work relationally which means that I encourage reflection on how you and I are interacting in the therapeutic relationship with one another and how this can put into relief how you relate outside of therapy.
Practice description
Relationships are complicated and often demanding. Work can be overwhelming and stressful - you may feel not fully present in your life or connected. Life's challenges can make us feel alone, not knowing where to turn or who to turn to - who can we trust?
I believe in the importance of feeling heard and in shedding light on the thoughts and feelings we struggle to confront or even 'know'. I offer a confidential and non-judgemental space for you to explore, at your pace, your story and what brings you to therapy. Committing to the process of therapy can elicit positive shifts in wellbeing and help you to gain insight into yourself and give you an opportunity to process feeling - allowing you to get to know yourself and who you are.
After a career in law I made the decision to pursue a life-long interest in psychotherapy and philosophy. My advanced training in Existential Psychotherapy complements my pluralist approach. Existential Psychotherapy is an approach that acknowledges many of our struggles and challenges can be seen as problems of living, of relating with others, of living with uncertainty - in short, being a fallible, vulnerable being. That feeling we sometimes get or have as a perpetual background hum, that feeling which we cannot always name - a dissatisfaction, feeling unhappy or feeling nothing may be explored in existential psychotherapy and this may offer hope - hope that we can take courageous steps to move forward towards a life that feels more us, more authentic with more resilience and flex around the uncertainties of life.

I offer a free initial consultation of 30 minutes via zoom.
