About me and my therapy practice

My focus is on creating a space for individuals where they can reflect on what is happening for them. As a therapist, my role is to work alongside my client in their process to exploration.

I integrate a number of therapies in my work - psychodynamic, person-centred and cognitive behavioural. I am completing a relational counselling qualification with Relate, so I bring the lens of systemic therapy to my practice – complementing the whole person approach I take.

My therapy practice is about both the internal & external. A person’s experiences, the relationships they have with others and the environment they live in; these all can and do have an influence on us. There are times however, that the spaces we inhabit may feel oppressive and cause us stress or pain – other times, things may just not ‘feel right’.

Whatever your experience, I will work with you to find clarity. The focus of therapy is you.  The approach I take is unique to each client and will grow and change as we build a relationship of trust which is key to facilitate the exploration of what matters to you.

Practice description

The work that I carry out with clients is focused on building their awareness about what maybe impacting them or causing them unease. Therapy is a place where you can set aside the armor that you may have wear to get through your week, speak honestly about what you are feeling and perhaps start to think about what you’d like to do next.

Understanding the environment that your live in is just as important as understanding who you are so part of the work will be understanding your place in the places you inhabit.

I have extensive experience of working with aspects of identity and difference built through my voluntary work through community based organisations such as Switchboard – as well as local counselling charities and a cultural/religious organisation.

My work in these communities and observing the emotional impact that challenging situations have on individuals have drawn me to understand the impact of trauma and I am developing my knowledge further in this area.

My first session

The first session is a chance for us to understand each other. Some individuals I’ve seen have a clear idea of what they want to speak about – others are not sure where to start. Both are fine and valid. I’m not here to judge you or tell you what to do – only you can decide that. I am here to work with you.

It’s a chance for you to unpack what you’d like to speak about and consider if you feel we’re a good fit to continue our work .

Identifying a therapist to work with can feel daunting task so I offer no obligations 15 minute conversation for you to get a feel of how I practice ahead of booking a session.
