About me and my therapy practice

Why come to counselling

People come to counselling for many reasons. You may have a very specific issue you would like to work on. Or maybe you are unsure but feeling stuck and overwhelmed. Whatever is bringing you to counselling I offer a safe confidential and non-judgemental place in which to talk.

What to expect

My therapy is client led. What does that mean for you? It means we will work together at your pace and to your comfort level to find new ways forward. In our sessions we will discuss where you are now in life, your experiences of the world, and what you want from counselling. We will consider how all of this shapes the way you think, feel, and behave, and how that might impact your relationships with others. In talking things through we can begin to unlock solutions.

In my counselling practice I draw on different approaches and will always offer you everything in my therapeutic toolbox. This might include exploring not just thoughts and feelings but also your body’s response to certain situations. From this we could begin to consider your overall health, wellbeing, and resilience.

My background

I was born in central London and have lived and worked within culturally and ethnically diverse communities. Before becoming a therapist I worked in the NHS and latterly within higher education. I have been part of the field of mental health and wellbeing for 20 years plus.

As a therapist I have worked with many different and often marginalised groups including unpaid carers, families affected by substance misuse, those experiencing chronic pain and long term health conditions, neurodivergent clients, and the LGBTQIA+ community.

I trained as a therapist because when I needed it most a counsellor listened and for the first time I felt truly heard. I offer you the same warm and impartial space.

Practice description

I work with adults aged 18 or over remotely within an ethical professional (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ) framework.

I offer weekly 50 minute online, (or telephone) counselling sessions. Usually on a pre-arranged day and time between 7am and 7pm.

My first session

I offer an initial 30-minute online (or telephone) consultation where you can let me know what brings you to therapy at this time. I can also answer any questions you may have about my practice and what to expect from working with me.
