About me and my therapy practice

Discovering hope means that its ok not to be ok, and the hardest part of any mental health challenge is taking the first step towards support.

I am an integrative counsellor that uses a combination of methods and approaches to inform the work we do together keeping the primary focus on what works best for the issues you bring into the counselling room.

My experience spans over 10 years of working with children, young people and adults, with issues ranging from anxiety, self-esteem, depression, grief and bereavement, self-harm and suicidal thoughts. This work takes the form of tailored 121 appointments over 6-12 sessions or longer-term work involving a wider mix of approaches but all these ways of working with someone is driven by the individual, putting them at the centre of the process and providing a review at regular intervals.

In addition to my 121 work, I also lecture in counselling skills in a local college and as part of the Open University.

I recommend an initial telephone/zoom conversation and then to schedule an in-person meeting where we can explore what therapy may feel like and then you are free to decide if I am the right counsellor for you without any obligation.

My sessions fees start at £50 for a 50-minute session which can either be booked per session or in a 6-session block. Please note the initial consultation session is free of charge as it is important that what I offer is right for you. Fully insured, DBS checked.

Please do get in touch to discuss our next steps;

Practice description

Integrative counselling is a holistic and personalized approach to therapy that draws from a range of therapeutic techniques to best meet your unique needs. Rather than adhering to a single school of thought, integrative counselling blends elements from various approaches, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, person-centered therapy, and mindfulness-based techniques, among others. This flexibility allows us to tailor our sessions specifically to you, ensuring that we work together in a way that resonates most with your personal experiences and goals.

In integrative counselling, our focus is on you as a whole person—your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and relationships. We believe that each aspect of your life is interconnected, and by exploring these connections, we can uncover the root causes of your challenges. This approach is particularly effective for those who may feel stuck or unsure about where to begin, as it allows us to gently navigate through various areas of your life, uncovering patterns and insights that can lead to profound change.

Our sessions are designed to be a safe and empathetic space where you can explore your feelings without judgment. We understand that opening up can be difficult, so we move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, or simply a desire for personal growth, integrative counselling offers a compassionate and supportive environment where your voice is heard, and your experiences are validated.

One of the key benefits of integrative counselling is its empowering nature. By combining different therapeutic techniques, we not only address your immediate concerns but also equip you with the tools and strategies to navigate future challenges with confidence. Our goal is to help you build a stronger sense of self-awareness and resilience, so you can face life’s ups and downs with greater ease and clarity.

My first session

To help you feel completely comfortable and confident in your decision, I offer the first counselling session free of charge. This initial session is an opportunity for you to experience what it’s like to work with me without any financial commitment. It’s important that you have the space to assess whether I’m the right person to support you on your journey, and I believe that this should be based entirely on how you feel rather than any financial pressures.

During our first session, we’ll have the chance to discuss your needs, explore what you hope to achieve through counselling, and begin to establish a connection. You can ask any questions you may have about the process, and we’ll work together to determine if my approach aligns with your goals and comfort level.

This session is designed to be a relaxed, no-obligation meeting where you can get a sense of how I work and whether you feel comfortable moving forward. I want you to feel empowered to make the decision that’s best for you, and offering this initial session free of charge ensures that you can do so with confidence and peace of mind.
