About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I am Rebecca Bauer, a highly trained and qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist who has been working with clients since 2018, and has been running my own private practice, Seasgair Counselling, since 2021.

I work with both individuals and couples from all over the UK and abroad.

There is nothing quite like the grief and trauma that comes from life not measuring up to our own expectations, whether that be through individual/self or relationship/couple difficulties. Therapy is a powerful tool that enables people to work through their difficulties and unpack all thoughts and feelings in a nonjudgemental, secure, supportive, and confidential space. I will stand alongside you in this, providing you with my learning and expertise, and teach you the tools you need to go out into the world and not only survive, but thrive on this life’s journey.

Below is a non-exhaustive list of the areas of therapy that I work with (please note that if you do not see what you are wanting to work through on this list – that does not mean I do not work with that area, please do still get in touch to discuss):

• Trying to conceive/TTC

• Infertility

• Fertility Treatment, IVF

• Miscarriage

• Ectopic pregnancy

• Stillbirth

• Termination for medical reasons/TFMR

• Infant death/early years death

• Depression or anxiety during Pregnancy

• Postnatal Depression

• Postnatal Anxiety

• Birth Trauma

• Tokophobia (an extreme fear of pregnancy and/or childbirth)

• New Parents

• Arguing between couples

• Rage or extreme bouts of anger since becoming pregnant or giving birth – sometimes known as ‘Mum Rage’ or ‘Dad Rage’

• Parent Isolation or loneliness

• Struggling to adjust to becoming a parent

• Struggling with the changes that are or have happened to your body

• Blended Families/Step Parents

• Infidelity

• Divorce/Conscious Uncoupling

• Abortion

If you would like to work together, please do not hesitate to get in touch, I will be right there for you.

Practice description

I work online, via video and phone calls.

Modality:

I work as a Pluralistic Counsellor, this means that I draw upon many different 'types' (e.g. person centred, CBT, compassion focused etc) of therapy to offer the best therapeutic support I can to my clients. If you have a preference of therapy type, we can discuss this.

Experience:

Having worked in complex trauma services since 2017 all of my work is trauma-informed. I know that it isn't 'just' what happened in your life that you will bring to a session, it is how those events STILL affect you day to day.

I have degrees in BSc Psychology and MSc Pluralistic Counselling and have completed extra training to work as a Perinatal and Fertility Counsellor. I now run a thriving private practice helping those who have experienced issues related to their fertility, pregnancy, child birth, and the postnatal and early years period. I work with all issues related to this period in a person's life, including but not limited to: postnatal depression and other mood disorders, miscarriage, stillbirth, tokophobia (fear of pregnancy and/or giving birth), abortion, birth trauma, infant loss, child loss, pregnancy after loss, and infertility.

I chose to specialise in Perinatal and Fertility counselling after my own experiences of getting pregnant and having a baby. After being diagnosed with PCOS, I knew getting pregnant would be difficult. I finally got pregnant and had my son in 2019 but ended up experiencing Birth Trauma, Postnatal Depression, and Breastfeeding Grief and Trauma, and then a miscarriage a year later. All of these experiences really lit a fire in me to help others going through the same.

Inclusivity:

I believe inclusion and intersectional feminism should be a cornerstone of our society and therefore am continually working to make sure my practice is as inclusive as it can be. I also have ADHD and am a member of the LGBTQIA+ community so it's not only an ideal, but a personal issue for me.

What I can help with

ADD / ADHD, Anxiety, Bereavement, Child related issues, Cultural issues, Depression, Health related issues, Identity issues, Infertility, LGBTQ+ counselling, Loss, Obsessions, OCD, Personal development, Phobias, Post-traumatic stress, Pregnancy related issues, Relationships, Self esteem, Self-harm, Sex-related issues, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Spirituality, Stress, Trauma, Vegan allied, Women's issues

Types of therapy

Emotionally focused therapy, Existential, Humanistic, Integrative, Person centred, Relational

Clients I work with

Adults, Couples, Trainees

How I deliver therapy
