About me and my therapy practice

Self care is so important and looking after our mental health is part of that. However, finding time and space to be able to look after ourselves can be challenging with the pressures of everyday life. Counselling enables clients to press ‘pause’ and take some time out of their week to explore their thoughts and feelings.

As an integrative practitioner, I work with individuals and couples to offer counselling centred around their needs and goals. The core of my practice is person centred, which enables my clients to have autonomy and empowers them to steer their own sessions in a safe, non judgemental space where they will be respected, and listened to.

I am currently offering remote sessions via phone, or video call to help make my services accessible to all. Sessions are open ended ensuring clients have control over their sessions and their counselling journey.

Practice description

My experience lies with young people and adults and I have been in practice since 2019. I started my journey to become a counsellor by training as a person centred practitioner, qualifying with my Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I wanted to develop my toolkit even further, so I completed my degree in counselling solutions, receiving a first class BA (Hons) allowing me to become integrative practitioner. This enables me to incorporate different therapeutic modalities into practice, depending on what my client's needs are.

I draw on interventions from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Systemic Theory, Narrative Therapy and Psychodynamic Theory. Being able to integrate different approaches into practice enables me to work flexibly to support clients achieve their goals.

I also work with couples after completing my Level 5 post qualifying certificate in relational counselling with Relate. This enables me to offer couples counselling and relational work.

I am an accredited member of the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ which demonstrates my professionalism, experience and abilities as a practitioner. I am also trained to practice EMDR, which is something I feel passionate about as I understand the life changing impact this can have for those who have experience trauma.

My first session

I offer a free 30 minute consultation to enable clients the opportunity to ask any questions and discuss what they need from counselling. The therapeutic relationship is key to success in counselling, therefore it is essential clients feel comfortable with their counsellor and feel they can work with them. If a client then chooses they would like to work with me as their counsellor, we would choose a suitable time and day to book in a first session. Prior to this session, I will send out my practice information, fees, and a counselling contract I ask client's to read through and sign if they consent to the agreement.

Individuals: we will complete an initial assessment during the first session, which is information gathering to ensure I have client details and we will then explore what the presenting issues are and goals for counselling. From then on, we will start the counselling sessions.

Couples/relationship work: A three part assessment will be completed. I will meet with the couple first of all and then meet with both individuals separately over two sessions. It is important individuals are given the opportunity to express what they want to work on, to ensure they don't have a split agenda and both have the same goal. Once the initial assessment has taken place, and assuming all individuals have the same agenda and no risk has been identified, we can then commence with the couple's counselling.

*Please note, until the full counselling assessment has been completed ongoing counselling sessions are not confirmed.
