About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Charlie - an experienced, qualified and registered psychotherapist with some remaining week-day availability in central London and online.
Life can feel hard, complicated - or worse.
Therapy develops our awareness, enabling us to make new choices and change our lives for the better.
So therapy can help whether we’re feeling distressed by the past, troubled in the present or worried for the future.
Sometimes we're stuck, down, pissed-off, stressed, anxious, confused, despairing, lonely, lost - or worse. Sometimes we're not even sure what's wrong.
Either way, engaging with therapy can help us explore what's up - and learn to move on into the life we want.
I provide a confidential space for us to work through whatever has brought you here. I can support you figuring out what that’s about - and navigating how and where you want to go next in your life.
Just get in touch via the contact form to arrange a free introductory call and we can take it from there.
Practice description
I take an Integrative approach to psychotherapy. That means I draw upon a range of therapeutic models to ensure we develop the best approach for you.
I prefer to work on an open-ended basis. This gives my clients whatever time they need to get the most out of our work together.
I work 1-to-1 with adult individuals. Everyone's welcome.
Experience: I have worked for two mental health services over the last five years, supporting a wide range of clients through their challenges to reshape their lives. Alongside my practice, I am also a member of the assessment team at an inner-city mental health service.
Qualifications: I hold an MA and Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy & Counselling, following a seven-year programme at the Minster Centre - the pioneers of Integrative Therapy training in the UK.
Registration: I am a registered member of both of the the UK’s national accrediting bodies: the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), and the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ). I also hold an enhanced DBS clearance. This means I work responsibly in accordance with professional standards. I am in clinical supervision and undertake regular training. Both ensure my clients benefit from my continuous professional development.
Career: Previously, I worked for almost twenty years in security roles within government and the corporate sector, both in the UK and in conflict-zones abroad. I recognise the impact that high-pressure jobs, exposure to trauma and returning home can have upon our mental health and relationships. I have a particular interest in supporting those with similar experience: whether in the aid / development, media, medical, military or security sectors.
Perspective: I know first-hand (from both chairs) what it takes to recognise when things don’t feel right, reach out for support and put in the work to change. And I’m confident that therapy can enable all of us to develop and enjoy more manageable, satisfying lives as a result.
My first session
Please get in touch to arrange a free 20 minute Zoom call to outline what's going on for you and ask me any questions about how I work.
If we're both happy to proceed, we'll have an initial 50min session either in person or online (£80). That's a chance for us to meet and see if we'd be a good fit.
If so, we'll take it from there with weekly sessions at a mutually agreed time and place, for as long as you need.
And if not, I'll aim to provide you with alternative contacts or services that may suit you better.
