About me and my therapy practice

I have been through my own journey of change, learning to trust in the process of counselling along the way and hope that I can support you on yours. We will work together to build a therapeutic relationship which envelopes trust in a safe, non-judgemental and confidential environment. It is important that you feel you can be accepted and heard. I will be your guide and encourage you to trust in the process.

We all have our own perspective of the world and people around us and I want you to tell me your story. In return I can support you to explore whatever comes up for you. I will offer respect, honesty, care and empathy, and the space to allow you to process and explore your own thoughts and feelings.

I currently work with children and young people in the NHS and privately. I also work with adults privately. I have volunteered as a counsellor with Place2Be at a secondary school and for the charity Mid Kent Mind. I have worked within the NHS for over 12 years; transitioning from working as a nurse and health visitor, to training as a counsellor after I realised that my true passion was listening and responding to my clients and supporting them to make their own change.

Working with parents of young babies/ children in the pre and postnatal stage built a true awareness of the importance of healthy attachments. We all want to feel connected to people around us and sometimes this need for connection leads us to form unhealthy attachments from a young age, which we continue in later life. Through counselling you can learn about your own attachments and identify recurring cycles. Or you may want to focus on a specific area like anxiety, depression, phobias, anger or self-esteem.

Practice description

I offer face to face in central Maidstone and am accessible to everyone with lift access within the day.

We can work together to create a focus for your work with you leading the way, whether this is to deal with a current issue that you wish to tackle, to allow you to move forward, a historic life events that still impacts today or a phobia or anxiety that stops you being able to manage everyday life events.

As a professional counsellor and a Registered Member of the Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ (MÏã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ 391928) your well-being and safety are my priority, and I will always be honest and open with you along your journey and hope that in return you will develop trust and we can build a therapeutic relationship where you feel supported on your journey of self-discovery and change.

My first session

I offer a free initial 30 minute telephone or virtual call where you have the opportunity to ask any questions. This call will give me the chance to help me understand what you are looking for and to ensure that I am able to meet your needs.

This call will allow you to decide whether you feel a good therapeutic relationship and have a sense that I can meet your needs. You can then decide to:

  • book a first session
  • have a think and contact me later
  • or if you feel we are not the right fit
there is no pressure and you are in control.

At your first session, which will be 50 minutes long either face to face, virtually or by telephone, we will:

  • Go into further depth about your expectations and requirements
  • Go through a counselling agreement and discuss and agree/ sign
  • Discuss areas around confidentiality and when this may be broken.
  • Discuss sessions, length, cancellations, fees, payments and contact details
  • I will take some personal details that will be kept in line with GDPR and never share your details without consent unless in the case of keeping you or someone else safe.
  • Set goals or expectations for your sessions.
At the end of this session you can decide whether you wish to continue and book further sessions.
