As a Humanistic therapist, I aim to help you to find a better way to understand the problems, patterns and behaviours that have brought you to counselling and work alongside you as you make sense of what’s going on for you and move towards the changes you want to make in your life. My main role is to listen- offering empathy and acceptance as we work together- and hope to build a secure, honest relationship with you where you feel safe enough to be open and authentic with me.
I have an interest in using a collaboration of approaches to therapy to ensure my practice is unique to the individual. I enjoy keeping up-to-date with a wide range of existing and fresh ideas in the therapeutic world and my continued professional development enhance this further.

I am trained in the Humanistic model but am flexible in my approach to work conducively with each client and their individual needs. We are all, after all, unique, and my relationship with you needs to reflect that. I have an interest in a range of collaborative approaches to therapy including CBT, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis.
I also have a qualification in Directive Couples Counselling where I am able to help couples to try and overcome relationship difficulties such as communication problems, infidelity, adapting to life as new parents and conflict resolution.
I have regular CPD (continued professional development) to maintain and enhance my skills and knowledge. My first session
Once you contact me, I will get in touch via email and ask if you’d like to arrange an introductory phone call. Some prospective clients prefer this as it gives them an opportunity to hear my voice and see if they feel comfortable speaking to me, other clients prefer to book an initial appointment. Once we’ve arranged a convenient time for your first appointment, I’ll send you my contract and an assessment form to complete and return to me prior to our first session. I’ll send a text on the morning of our appointment at 9am as a reminder along with access information.
During our first session, we will discuss your assessment form and any questions you have that haven’t been covered prior to our session. I’ll also go over contracting with you- this is where I’ll discuss things like confidentiality and what you can expect from me as a counsellor. We usually then get stuck in- I’ll ask what you are hoping to gain from therapy and together we can work towards making this a reality.

Some prospective clients prefer this as it gives them an opportunity to hear my voice and see if they feel comfortable speaking to me, other clients prefer to book an initial appointment. Once we’ve arranged a convenient time for your first appointment, I’ll send you my contract and an assessment form to complete and return to me prior to our first session. I’ll send a text on the morning of our appointment at 9am as a reminder along with access information.
During our first session, we will discuss your assessment form and any questions you have that haven’t been covered prior to our session. I’ll also go over contracting with you- this is where I’ll discuss things like confidentiality and what you can expect from me as a counsellor. We usually then get stuck in- I’ll ask what you are hoping to gain from therapy and together we can work towards making this a reality.
