About me and my therapy practice
My name is Julia and I am a psychotherapist and counsellor who listens, supports and empowers clients to explore, identify and understand their needs helping them to achieve positive outcomes.
I work integratively using different modalities as appropriate to the client – I do not believe that one approach suits all. I use humanistic principles to work in relation to the present and a psychodynamic approach to explore the past and how this may be impacting currently with the purpose being to enable the client to make sense of their world and their interventions within it.
Practice description
I provide both short and long-term therapy to 16+ adults with a wide range of issues. Focus areas include abuse (emotional, physical and sexual), anxiety, confidence and self-esteem, depression, self-harm and trauma. I also have an interest in chronic/long term health conditions and unexplained pain that may have roots in physical or emotional trauma.
I work on a face to face or remote basis – I am currently working remotely via Skype, Zoom and WhatsApp. I can provide home visits dependent on location.
I have monthly individual supervision, attend monthly peer supervision groups and have six weekly personal therapy. I am a member of the ICO (fully gdpr compliant), have full liability insurance and hold a registered DBS.
My first session
Initially I offer a free 20 minute telephone conversation to discuss your needs, what I could offer you and consider how we could work together.
Our first session provides the opportunity to meet each other - building the therapeutic relationship is key for positive therapeutic experiences. To help with this we complete an assessment which enables us to establish how we work together and what you are wanting to achieve from your therapy.
