About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Jen. (she/her/hers)
I’m a Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê¾«×¼×ÊÁÏ registered integrative therapist offering counselling and psychotherapy in London, both in-person and online. I support people to deepen their understanding and acceptance of themselves in a way that honours who they are as a person.
To truly understand where you’re coming from, it’s important for me to learn about who you are and understand your current issues in the context of past experiences and how you have been impacted by cultural, societal or familial pressures. I’m interested in engaging people as their true selves and working together to create a safe, authentic and vulnerable connection. This will help us explore who you are and where you come from – your personal circumstances, identities and values.
I’m interactive, open, curious and collaborative – I’m not a ‘blank canvas’. I show up as myself in the therapy room and own my cultural perspectives and experiences. I grew up in Vancouver, Canada as a child of immigrants and have lived in the UK for 12 years.
My approach is integrative with a strong relational emphasis and I’m influenced by various theories, philosophies and modalities including: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Relational-Cultural Therapy, Attachment Theory, Narrative Therapy and Existential Therapy.
I enjoy using creative tools to help you learn more about yourself, support self-care and encourage new ways of thinking. I also like to share books, articles and podcasts to enrich our work together and bring you in connection with shared experiences.
Practice description
You might be asking yourself – why go to therapy? First of all, going to therapy is brave. Many of the people I work with are struggling with difficult feelings such as loneliness, low self-esteem, hopelessness and not feeling ‘good enough’. Some are grappling with existential issues and trying to find their own meaning or purpose in life. I have extensive experience working with people who are experiencing depression and anxiety, while also understanding that everyone’s pain is uniquely their own. I will support you to feel safe in your emotional experience, even if we go to some challenging places together.
Therapy can change the way you look at the world by giving you new insights, shifting lifelong narratives, uncovering hidden depths of emotion and exploring the barriers that may be holding you back from making changes. It can also be a wonderful opportunity to learn more about yourself, untangle any issues you may be having in past or current relationships or just be a non-judgemental space to talk about the big things in life that are on your mind. One of the biggest misconceptions about therapy is that you need to have serious problems or issues. The reality is that therapy is for everyone – and it can be a liberating experience.
